Zay's POV

Any luck?

We've found the building. We just need to get in. Find Ryder and secure him

After checking in with my father I continue to walk in the direction that Roman said. I can faintly smell Ryder, his scent lingers in the grass and burns the leaves. I follow it, and the scent grows more and more each step. The decision to either go help save my love or destroy the man who took her is harrowing, but right now all I smell is Ryder, and the thirst for vengeance and blood is overpowering.

I hear him before I actually see him.

"Zyler. I hope for your sake this is the last time I'll have to bargain with you."

I ignore his words and just follow his voice.

"Just tell me where they are and I'll let your lover go."

He must not know Roman surrendered her location. Playing along so he doesn't go after her again, I say, "Where is she?"

"Perhaps I actually put her in a burning building. Scene would be ironic wouldn't it."

I spot him, leaning idly against a tree trunk, so relaxed, so arrogant. So sure of himself.

"Zyler."

"I swear, if you've hurt her."

"No more casualties will have to take place if you just cooperate."

"No more?" I say, beginning to feel my wolf stir at the thought of him doing anything to Amber.

He takes a couple of steps towards me and I tense up. "Listen Zyler. Just take a second to see my proposition. We could all live peacefully together. All I want is to unify our species to make it whole again."

"A species under your command would be better off being extinct."

"Your judgment is clouded. Think of how many werewolves are out on their own, we could capture the unstable and have them work as fighters. We'd be unstoppable," he says.

My fathers voice enters my mind.

We've got her

"Just give up Ryder."

"You're in no position to be bargaining with me. Have you forgotten who I have in my hands. I won't ever give her to you until you tell me what I want to know."

"Do you really have her though?"

A look of confusion crosses his face.

"It seems your loyal brother isn't so loyal to you after all."

His eyes flash in anger. "That bastard."

"We have her. So you've got nothing against him. Just surrender peacefully, and it'll be over quick."

"Never! My vision will be completed!" He looks crazed now. "I'll find her again and slash her throat in front of you! Whatever it takes!"

He charges at me suddenly, and I move out of the way at the last second.

"She'll join your mother in hell," he snarls. "All because you refuse to see my better way of life!"

This tips my control. My claws protrude and I slash at his face making sound contact and drawing blood. "You're the one who belongs in hell," I snarl back.
