"How did you lose him?"

"I didn't," She says with a bitter sweet smile.

"I didn't lose him, because he was never mine. He almost was, but somehow I lost him. "

She takes a deep breath.

"He could've loved me, you know. And I did love him, I think, as best as you can love someone who isn't yours. But that was all a "could've", not a 'did'. "

"And God, does that hurt," She murmurs as she blows out a breath.

"If he had been mine, at least I would've gotten some clarity out of it, but he wasn't. He wasn't, so all I could think about is that he could've. That he almost did. "
