Chapter 10/Oh no not him again

"That was the deal, you come up have a look around and carry on. You better hurry or the Ubur will pull off" said Dante.

"I'll guess I'll See you later Dante," said Keltra reluctantly. I think George must have scowled at her from behind my back.

"Sure what ever life form," said Dante. Did he not know she was interested, or not care? You wondered if he really didn't get what she had in mind, or if his confidence was so sky high he didn't care.

Leo turned to Dante "and while you're here, where is my money jailbird?"

"You'll get it alright" said Dante. From his tone it sounded like Dante was friends with Leo well enough to lend him money.

Grouthouser came out "May I request quite please everyone. Madam is resting".

Everyone froze and slowly walked around.

George came over "Leo is right, were are here for the same reason we are. I suggest we call a temporary truce between you until a certain chamber of secrets is emptied."

I pulled a face. I wouldn't let anyone one not even a bad boy walk all over me but this wasn't my planet.

"It would not be against my nature to delay my words for you by 48 hours." I said.

Dante hesitated.

"Dante..." said George. All eyes were on him.

"Your courtesy does you credit." he said slowly and deliberately.

'Could have fooled me' I thought I so wanted to jump in at that one but worked hard at not coming back.

"So what's the plan?" said Leo.

"She distracts Grouthouser with her sparkling personality. While the guys move as many items as possible to one of the bed rooms where aunt Mallery is not yet sleeping." said Dante.

I was going to ask what George was going to do but then I figured out she was in the 'guys' group .

"Why don't you distract it with you personality?" I asked pointing at Dante. "Any way what do I say?"

"You're the Eye girl, just be Eye-ish" Dante explained.

"And there was me thinking you couldn't do it because you hadn't brought your personality with you" I said back. Short truce huh?

"Children." said Leo. This not being rude to Dante was going to require work. 

George, Leo and Dante went upstairs while I looked for Grouthouser. Kentro came up to me he was carrying boxes of shoes.

"I hope madam doesn't mind but Mr Grouthouser needs some assistance in getting things ready for your Aunt Mallery's arrival and also needs a little repair work that it is no longer dextrous enough to perform. I offered my services." said Kentro. I noticed a power saw hanging on his hip.

"Sure " I said "just keep him away from great grandmother's room while the others empty shelves out."

"Hmm" Kentro began "that would be enough time to empty about 1.6 meters of shelf space if they clear all bottom, lower,middle, and upper shelves equally "

"1.6 meters?" I said

"Sorry 5.42 feet, a commendable if small percentage of the total shelf space," said Kentro.

Planet earth had converted to the metric system but Mars had mostly stayed with 'standard' units of feet, inches, miles. Well I say Metric under UN-Facebook centimetres i.e. hundredths of a meter were now called Zuckenburgs after the UN-Facebook founder.
