Recap:

"Teresa?"

"Yes, Victoria?"

Victoria looked down, playing with her fingers. "I need advice," she informed me in a soft voice.

I'm here," I reassured her. "What is it?"

"Well, when I ran off... I met this guy," a small smile played at her lips. "And I don't know. There was something about him that brightened my day and I felt connected to him at times. But it wasn't exactly pretty when I last saw him," she shuddered. "It's so much to explain."

I held my hand out. "You don't have to. Explain later when Julissa's with us."

She nodded her head. "So what should I do?" she whispered.

"Well, I know one thing for sure. As soon as that leg of yours heals," I grinned, "you go get him."

Chapter 21

=Victoria=

"YOU SHIFTED IN FRONT OF HIM?!" Teresa shouted.

"WHY YOU DO THAT FOR?!" Julissa ganged up with her.

I threw out my hands in front of me. "I couldn't control myself! When Steven told me a specific something about himself, my anger just got the best of my wolf," I defended myself.

Teresa snorted, "What, did he say he was gay?"

"It's fucking disappointing when you find out a hot guy is gay," Julie pouted.

"Or did he say his jalapeño was below stan----"

"What? No and no, he's not gay!" I tugged at my hair in frustration.

Two weeks ago I was released from the hospital and at the moment I was resting on the couch in our lounge with Julie and Teresa at each of my sides. I told them all about the hobo and STD and... my attraction to Steven.

"Did he get scared?" Julissa asked curiously.

I buried my face in my hands. "I-I think so. What if he doesn't want to see me again?"

Teresa stroked my hair. "Stop being such a pessimist! I'm sure he does. He's probably worried sick about you."

"Really?" I denied. "He probably thinks I'm a monst---"

A shot of pain suddenly stunned my cheeks. "Did... did you two just slap me?" I touched my face horrified.

"Yes. Slapped some sense into you! Jeesh."

I rubbed the burning feeling. "Uh, thanks. I think I needed that."

The next morning, I woke up with a bubbly, giddy feeling inside of me. That was weird considering I hate the morning.

I snatched the red Sharpie from my nightstand and drew a huge red X and circle around today's box on the calendar.

Today was the day I get my leg cast off! Hurray!

I flipped open my cell phone and dialed Dr. Taylor Taylors.

As soon as she answered, I jumped in, "Hey, Doc, you better come over here quickly please!"

Dr. Taylor chuckle. "Patience, Victoria."

I tapped my fingers against the mattress. "That foreign word isn't in my vocabulary. Hurrrryyyy!" I whined.

"Okay. I'll be there s---"

"Super freaking soon. Got it, Doc. Goodbye!" I ended the call and the doorbell rang. Wow, her speed never gets old. "Someone open the door!" I ordered.

"No, do it yourself," Julissa's grumpy voice complained from her room.

"What serial killer said," agreed Teresa's muffled voice from her bedroom. "OOOOOF. What the hell?! So you can't get up to answer the door, but you can to hit me with your bra."

"Yes," I heard Julie with satisfaction in her voice.

I grunted. Stupid, lazy girls. They are damn lucky I love them.

I grabbed my clutches and made my way to the door. In came Dr. Taylor.

"Okay, Victoria, I want you to lay on the couch so I can remove the cast and examine your leg to make sure it's A-okay," she ordered sternly.

I obeyed and Teresa and Julissa came out of the bedroom to watch.

I heard the material being removed. "Hmmm, everything seems perfect. It's all new and fine," Dr. Taylors announced.

I embraced her. "Thanks, Doc."

"No problem, Vicky."

I stood on my feet for the first time in two weeks. What a marvelous feeling.

I scooped up my car keys from the kitchen counter and clutched them to my chest.

"Steven, here I come."
