Great words hiding
inside covers of books.
In plain sight, so obvious,
But no one will look
For words that other
Words look up to and say,
"I wish that I could be
Like you one day."
The 'legits' and 'epics'
Think they're so hot
Since people love using them
But, of course, they are not.
They cause students' minds to
succumb to the rot
Of the short candied words,
So simple and sweet,
The ones that sound 'cool'
but will soon rot your teeth.
They will never hold a candle to
The "euphoric's" and "beauty's"
Who the other words deem
uncool and have cooties.
The wonderful words
that no one will use,
Because having a brain
sometimes gets you abused.
And so beautiful as
some of these words may be,
They will just collect dust
in the dictionary.
DON'T SUCCUMB TO PEER PRESSURE. DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE BIG, BEAUTIFUL WORDS.
