The night after the party, Lauren opened her eyes only to see a pair already watching her. Her first instinct was to scream but her eyes focused on the familiar brown ones that she has come to love. She lifter her hand and carefully brushed a few strands of hair from Lucy's face.

"How are you feeling?" She asked.

Lauren mumbled something in response, covering her face with her hand, the nights events catching up to her. Her head was pounding and it was way too bright in her room. Lucy chuckled at the obvious discomfort on Lauren's face.

"Shut up," Lauren pushed her away before sitting up slightly, wincing at the movement. "I feel like shit."

"I know you do," Lucy agreed as Lauren finally looked in her direction. Her hair was messy, she was only wearing one of Lauren's large shirts and she looked exceptionally beautiful for someone in the morning. "Lay back down. I'll get you some water and Advil."

Lauren nodded weakly before stretching a bit and falling back over. She covered her hand with her face and went over the nights events. She made friends, which was a nice change since she always and only hung with Lucy; she talked to them about her feelings towards her best friend which felt great to get off her chest. And she witnessed Keana and Lucy sucking face on a couch. Not the best thing to see.

Lauren buried herself under her covers and groaned. She couldn't get the sight of her best friend with someone else out of her head. Every time she closed her eyes she saw them two. It hasn't even been more then ten hours and the thought was already hunting her.

"Babe," She heard Lucy speak as she entered the room again. "There's no more Advil so I got you Ibuprofen."

"Thanks Luce," Lauren have a small smile as she accepted the medicine gratefully.

Lucy waved the thanks off as Lauren drank her water. She winced a little as more sunlight came into the room and she felt her best friend's eyes on her. Lucy was looking at her with such adoration that made Lauren feel like there could be a chance of her feelings being reciprocated even though she knows it's not true. She was feeling a little insecure under the intense staring so her green eyes glanced up to meet the chocolate one in question. Instead of answering Lucy shook her head with a warm smile.

"You're so cute in the mornings," She gushed as Lauren's face grew red. She murmured something, butting her head in her hands as Lucy just laughed. "I'll go start your shower."

Lauren only nodded in response as Lucy entered her personal bathroom. Lauren sighed and fell back against her bed. It was things like that that made her fall harder for the older girl. The sly comments and compliments here and there made her heart flutter until no end. Sometimes she felt like Lucy was only playing with her feelings; saying things that she knows would drive Lauren off the edge only to push her away again.

Lauren knew her heart was in a dangerous place but she couldn't help herself. She couldn't help but enjoy the moments like these. She couldn't help but enjoy when Lucy would make her heart flutter with love or happiness or just plain positivity. Even though she had the power to break Lauren's heart over and over and over again, she also was the only one that could make Lauren the happiest she could be.

It might have been toxic and Lauren might have known that, but...it's Lucy.

It's been a couple of weeks since the party and Lauren had finally managed to get the horrible image of her best friend and Keana out of her head. She could tell Lucy was being cautious every time she brought up the the slender brown haired girl or things that went on at the party. Sometimes Lauren felt like she already knew of her feelings for her but she'd brush it off.
