Soccer Games and Heartbreak

Start from the beginning

"Well Patrick Dempsey has this best friend and she comes home from a trip and she's engaged and then asks him to be her maid of honor in her wedding and then somewhere along the way he realizes that he's in love with her..." I say walking back with the bowl.

He pulls the blanket to the side for me to sit down and then puts it back over me.

I play the movie and relax back into the couch.

A little while into the movie I feel Elliot put his arm around me and I lean into his chest.

He's warm, and I feel safe next to him. I could stay here forever.

I feel the sleep come over me and I don't fight it.

"Liv...." He says quietly.

"Hmmm..." I say against his chest.

"The movies over..." He says, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I don't wanna move..." I say softly.

"Come on..." He says, sliding an arm under my knees, and carrying me bridal-style into my bedroom.

He sets me down in the already over-turned covers and tucks me in.

"Goodnight Liv..." He says quietly, kissing my forehead.

"Goodnight El..." I mumble, still half asleep.

There's a loss of warmth, a loss of comfort when Elliot leaves.

But I manage to fall asleep anyway.

I wake up the next morning to banging around in the kitchen.

"El what are you doing?" I ask running out of my room.

"I was making French toast and I dropped a pan." He says shrugging.

"Why are you making French toast?" I ask throwing my hair in a ponytail.

"To say thanks, and because I wanted to." He says.

"You didn't have to do that." I say smiling softly.

"Liv I wanted to." He says smiling.

He sets plates in front of us and sits down.

"Have any plans for the day?" He asks.

"Yeah, I'm going shopping with Casey and then I have a thing." I say awkwardly.

I'm not sure why but I feel weird telling him I have a date.

"A thing?" He asks.

"Yeah, I have a date." I say.

"Oh..." He says, "I had tickets to the baseball game but uh your busy so I'll just ask someone else."

I didn't really want to go in the first place. I'd so much rather be at a baseball game with Elliot.

"No I didn't really wanna go anyway..." I say, "I'd love to go to the game."

"No Liv you should go on your date..." He says.

"No El, I really didn't want to go." I say, smiling at him
