When you drown in darkness,
Don't' forget to see the light.
When you trip over memories,
Don't forget to stand up.
When you breathe your last breath,
Don't forget to live.
We're made of star stuff.
Carbon, Nitrogen and Dreams.
Hope, Happiness and Fear.
When you learn something,
Don't forget to feel it.
Taste the words on your tongue,
Trace the letters in the air.
Let your heart beat out the rhythm
And hear it.
Tighten your grip on the reigns of space and stars,
Clench your teeth of gold.
If you must cry,
Let it out all at once,
Shake the Earth with your sorrow
And plant what's left in the dirt.
What comes hard today
Is preparing you for tomorrow.
And when you cry once,
Don't forget the tears streaming down your face.
Don't forget your fingers on the cold bathroom sink.
The wet pillows and hot blankets.
Cold bed and blurry eyes.
The blood rushing through your cheeks.
The pain prickling under your skin.
But most of all,
When you cry once,
Don't forget to smile
Ever.
