Chapter three.

One cough. It didn't seem anything to worry about but she had been coughing frequently the past week. That was an early sign of lung cancer wasn't it? And strangely enough Brielle did not care. Lung cancer didn't seem to worry her at all. The coughing never worsened and never ceased. Besides it was Winter so it wasn't very worrying to be coughing since million other people were as well. Brielle woke up late that afternoon, she hadn't stay'd up late the night before. She just thought of sleep as death without the commitment so thats why she enjoyed it. Also, any excuse to stay away from her parents death glares was also a good thing about sleeping. Brielle swung her legs over the side of her single bed and walked over to her bathroom where she stared at herself in the mirror as she put a tablet at the back of her throat and swallowed it whole, coughing a little bit inbetween. After she had done the rest of her morning (or right now, afternoon routine which also included a shower, brushing her tangled black hair and brushing her teeth) she finally realised what tonight was. Garretts party. Brielle slapped her forehead and quickly rushed over to her closet, scanning the nearly full small space. Brielle pulled out a knitted fox sweater along with her dark denim jeans and black military boots. She put on her clothes and put her hair in a loose braid. Even though it was 5:30 in the afternoon she liked to be early, rather than late. Plus since her parents had taken away her car she needed to get an early start on walking over to the party. Brielle grabbed her coat from her desk, slipped it on and exited her room, walking down the stairs, seeing her parents sitting on the couch watching NCIS.

"Where are you going?" Brielle's dad grunted from his recliner.

"I told you last night I'm going over to Garretts place." She replied, stopping at the front door.

"Whoring out again with that boy?" Her dad snickered revoltingly.

"Ugh dad don't be gross. I'm not a whore, we're just hanging out with Luce and some other people. See you tomorrow" Brielle scoffed and rollied her eyes and that was the last time she saw him that day, thank god. Her dad was a lazy, old, sex freak. How he married her gorgeous looking mother, she would never know and she would always feel sorry for the woman and herself for being related to him.

Brielle arrived at Garretts two story house and entered through the backyard. His parents didn't like him having parties inside but they allowed him to do it outside as long as they all didn't mess up the garden, which she respected since his parents were nice people. Brielle walked to the backyard and saw everything set up as she eyed his old kiddy treehouse they used to play in. It brought back memories like when they were eleven and she fell off it which caused her to break her arm. But it was fun.

"Hey Brie!" Garretts voice boomed throughout the backyard.

"Hey Garrett!" She replied and hugged him as he stood in front of her.

"Bit early aren't ya?" Garrett questioned.

"Well I woke up at 3:42 pm and decided I didn't want to waste time lazying around at home being a hopeless git. So I decided to be a hopeless git here." Brielle said with a little laugh as she attempted to be funny.

"Well you have come to the right place my friend. But you're not the only person here, Tom has arrived!" Garrett said enthusiastically as he gestered over to the gate opening and there revealed the handsome and iditotic, Tom. Brielle rolled her eyes but her face lit as she saw Luce enter the room. She pushed pass Tom and threw her arms around Luce, hugging her tightly.

"Luce! I haven't seen you all week oh my god how has school been!" Brielle said excitedly, pulling back and looking at her. Yes she was over reacting but she hadn't been able to see her all week because of school for her and Brielle wanted her to make some new friends so she would not be alone. She was like her little sister and she wanted the best for her, even if it was the worst situation.

"Believe it or not it has actually been quite alright. There's a new boy and we have been getting along. I think this year might be pretty good." Luce said with a small smile on her face. Brielle looked over at Garrett and saw him cringing a little bit as she said she made a new guy friend. Brielle smirked slightly and looked back over at Luce. The tension was high between those two. Luce didn't know but Brielle certainly did. Tonight definitely was going to be a very very good night.

-

Everyone else soon arrived. It was a mixture between people Brielle knew and didn't know which was alright because if you haven't noticed Brielle is a pretty non social person towards people. She spent that time talking to Luce and Garrett but once she had had enough of people she retreated to the tree house and sat near the enterance to the room, looking up at the sky as she had a smoke. It was quite relaxing if you think about it. The music from below filled her ears and she didn't even notice there was someone next to her until she felt her cigarette being removed from her hands. Brielle looked over at the person next to her and groaned.

"Tom, you gotta stop stealing my stuff" Brielle yelled and stole her cigarette back, putting it in her mouth and breathed it in.

"Sooooorrrrryyyy" Tom said.

"Sure you are" Brielle said rolling her eyes.

"Well I am and I sincerely want to apologize to you for my actions the other day." Tom said, jokingly.

"Ha Ha very funny. But seriously what do you want?" Brielle asked.

"Well you looked alone up here and I am not that bad of a guy I dont think so I want to you know, talk and stuff. But really i'm sorry for my bad impression the other day I was out of line. Forgiven?" Tom said pushing her shoulder playfully. Brielle thought for a moment but saw no reason to hold a grudge against this guy. So she huffed and nodded which gave her a hug from him which she felt awkward about. Brielle awkwardly hugged back and pat his back, showing he was forgiven.

"This is gonna be the start of something amazing Brielle!" Tom said sarcastically as he gave her a packet of cigarettes.

"Something amazing called lung cancer" Brielle laughed slightly and accepted the packet of cigarettes. But he could be right. It could be something daring since he was very very interesting to be around.

And it was going to be a very interesting time.
