"With who!" Taylor said, his voice slightly pitching towards the end.

Grabbing the books I need to take with me from my locker, I closed it and turned my attention back to Taylor. The look on Taylor's face was priceless when I told him who my social studies partner was.

"Taylor, calm down. I hate to say it but, the girl frightens me enough as it is so I don't need you freaking out on me too," I said, scratching the back of my neck.

"What are you going to do?" Taylor asked, leaning his head on the lockers while holding his books close to his chest. Sighing, I answered.

"It's not like I can ignore doing the project, so I guess I have to learn some kick-boxing, just in case I piss her off."

"Yea, smart move."

"Sky, Tay."

Turning around, I saw Natalie walking up to us.

"Hey," Taylor and I said in sync.

"What's wrong?" Natalie asked as she slowed down her walk.

Looking between Taylor and me, she could quickly tell how scared Taylor looked and screwed I was.

"Skylar here got partnered with Alex," Taylor said in a low voice.

"Shit, first day, and you're already dealing with drama," Natalie said.

"As if I've avoided drama in the last five schools I've been in, and I'm about to avoid it in this one as well. I'm just going to stay out of her hair and judging by her attitude. I bet she doesn't even want to do the project. I bet she could care less who I am, and frankly, I don't care who she is. She has a nasty attitude that someone should fix."

Looking at Natalie and Taylor, I watched as their face turned to stone as they seemed to look above my head. I couldn't help but feel a shiver go through my body. For the first time in a while, I found myself praying. I just prayed that no one was behind me, and all they saw was a ghost.

"Seems to me someone else has an attitude problem that needs fixing."

Turning around slowly, I closed my eyes and spoke slowly.

"Who wants to know?" I asked, my voice cracking a little towards the end.

"Smooth Skylar, just smooth," I thought.

"Why don't you open your eyes, princess, and find out."

Pecking through one eye, I saw a smirk on someone's gorgeous face. I closed them again and turned around.

"Hey guys, I'll talk to you two later, I need to go call my insurance and make sure my plan is up to date."

They nodded their heads slowly but didn't move until the sound of someone clearing their voice snapped them back to reality.

I watched them disappear around the corner catching glimpses of their eyes full of concern.

"So, are you going to give your insurance a call?"

Taking a deep breath, I turned around, eyes still shut.

"Nope, go ahead, punch me, just don't kill me."

"Open your eyes."

Oh great, she wants me to watch her hit me.

"I rather not," I said slowly.

"Open them." She said in a steady voice.

Opening my eyes slowly, I meet purple eyes.

I couldn't help but be taken aback by the sight of her being so close to me.

"Listen, I know you want nothing to do with me and sensing as you just made that very clear, but we have a project to do together. That means we are going to be spending a lot of time together. So, for both our sake, how about we start fresh. Let's just ignore the rumors and forget my group of friends that everyone loves to call sins."

Shaking my head slowly, it seemed as if the gears in my head finally started turning again. Extending my hand towards Alex, I waited for her to shake it.

Smirking, she took my hand in hers.

At the touch of her skin, I instantly felt a spark similar to getting electrocuted. Thankfully it lasted only for a second or two.

I tried to take my hand back, but Alex just gripped it harder.

"Alex McCartney."

"Skylar Charms," I responded, trying to clear my throat.

We stood there for a couple of seconds, just staring at each other before she released my hand.

She checked her watch before looking back at me.

"Listen, I have to go but, I'll meet with you tomorrow," She responded.

"Ok, but tomorrow is Saturday, how are you going to meet me?"

"Oh right, hmmm, don't suppose you know where the local library is?" she asked.

"Not really, but I suppose I could find it."

Slowly starting to walk backward, she spoke up again.

"Great, I see you around 2 in the afternoon."

"Ok, see you soon."

Turning her back towards me, she was quick to yell out, "See you soon, princess."

I couldn't help but chuckle as well as roll my eyes at her nickname for me.

"Now, this school was different."
