The annoying buzz of my alarm clock woke me out of my sleep. I groaned. I should not have went to sleep as late as I did. It was 8:00 and orientation started at 10:00. I woke Summer up, like she told me to last night, and we started to get ready.

"Should I wear this or this," Summer asked, holding up a baby pink dress and a white tee paired with a cool printed cardigan. I pointed to the cardigan.

"That would go very good with your skin tone," I said, "and here wear these on your feet," I said handing her a pair of thick brown wedges.

"Thanks, girl" Summer said, grabbing the pair of wedges. "You have very good taste."

"Thanks, now you help me," I laughed. When it came to me, I usually just wore band tees and converse. Today I wanted to look nice.

"Hmmm...," Summer said, walking over to my small closet, "Oh, I know! Wear this." She had me a black and white striped crop top and my black skater skirt. I had never actually these clothes back to home, and I only took it to college just in case.

"Umm, okay." I said, grabbing the clothes. I took off my plaid pajamas pants, while Summer stared at me waiting to see what the outfit looked like. I had never felt nervous getting undressed in front of girls in the locker room during high school. Since me and Summer would be living with each other for a while, we might as well get used to each other right now.

"Oh my gosh," Summer gasped, "You look great."

I walked over to the full body mirror hanging on the back of my closet door. She was right, I did look good. The skirt hit just above my knees, showing of my long legs in a flirtatious way. The crop top sat right above my belly button. This was the most skin I had ever shown.

"Thanks," I smiled at Summer and grabbed my low top black converses, adding my own personal touch.

"I'll be right back," I said, grabbing my bag of toiletries.

"Might as well go with you," Summer replied, grabbing her toiletries. We ventured off into the horrid co-ed bathrooms. We brushed our teeth and freshened up, making small talk with each other and the other girls in bathroom. I glanced at my cell, 9:15. About 15 more minutes. The building they were having orientation at was about ten minutes away, and we wanted to be there eariler.

We walked back to our room, did our makeup together. I only had time for my brows and mascara, but Summer is a makeup pro. In those measly 15 minutes, she had applied foundation, concealer, fake lashes, a bold lip, and filled in her eyebrows.

"Dang girl!" I shouted. "What are you magic or something?"

"Haha," she laughed. "No, I've just been doing makeup for as long as I remember."

Well, let's go," I said, glancing at my cell phone, "we've got 15 minutes to get there."

We walked down the hall to the elevator, and held the door for the few other freshman who where headed for orientation. I clicked the button for floor A, but the elevator stopped at floor E.

"Gosh, do we really have to go to this stupid orientation," a girl said into her cell phone. She was tall, but not as tall as me. She had tan nice, and flowing brown hair. "God, you're so annyoing," she sneered into her cell and hung up.
She stood in front of me, and I looked to see what she was wearing.

On her body was a white bralette and high waisted flowing shorts. She was showing wayy too much skin.

Luckily the elevator didn't stop any more and we made it to floor A. The blonde girl stepped out of the elevator and muttered under her breath,"Thank god it stunk of weave in there."

Summer and I looked at each other. We were the only black girls on the elevator. I shrugged my shoulders it was nothing worth being petty over on the second day.

Soon, we had made it to the building, and took a seat at an empty table.

"Might as well get started now," the lady at the podium said, "looks like everyone's here."

That's when to people two people walked in.

"God, just shut up for once" a girl yelled. The same girl from the elevator. Of course she'd be here.

"Shh Edith..." a deep voice whispered to her. I looked to see who was with her. It was the same guy who had came into my dorm yesterday, Asher I think it was. He wore a white tee and dark wash skinny jeans. On his feet where dingy converses. Obviously he didn't put much effort into how he looked today.

"Well, now since everyone is now here, how about we get started now?" The instructor said. She started talking about NYU and how to become an active college student.

"Clubs, clubs, clubs, you want to join clubs," she said, her voice droned out as I started to daydream.

Who would I become friends with?

Would I make enemies?

Would I get a boyfriend?

'Hmm, not likely.' I thought to myself.

Soon the orientation meeting was over and all the freshmen were scrambling out the door.

"I'm hungry, let's eat." I told Summer.

"Okay how about McDonald's this time? It's cheap and I don't want to send all the money my mom gave me on food." Summer said.

"Sure, let's go."

It was only a short walk to the nearest McDonald's. Gosh, in NYC those things were everywhere. I ordered a ten piece nugget and medium fry. Summer ordered her food next.

"Can I get some McNuggets with a McFry with a McDrink to McGo please?" I snorted and started laughing. We waited for our food and walked back to our room. We sure would be doing alot of walking in the big city.

We stepped into the lobby of our building, only to find the same brunette, who I now knew as Edith, talking to some girl.

"We should totally go to that party tonight. Isn't it at the frat house?" I overheard her say.

"Yeah, I heard it's gonna be lit." The other girl replied.

Summer gave me a knowing look.

She better not say-

"We're definitely going to that party tonight."

Great.
