"So, how long has it been?" She asks, hands draped between her legs, elbows propped up on her knees. Her hands are bound in eggshell white bandages, her hair long, fallen behind her shoulders. By all definitions of the word different, she is; except for that look in her eyes. That spark, that life, had not faded in the time they spent apart.
He's almost hesitant to respond - as if his voice could shatter this reality, prove to him it's all a dream. "F-Five years." The words falter as they stumble from his lips, his eyes, face, reddening with the warning of tears. Quinn stares back, and if she's feeling even a morsel of the emotion he is, she doesn't show it. Instead, she lets out a tender sigh, sits upright, and rests her hands in her lap.
"Five years, Merle Dixon." In a swift, single movement, she stands, and grabs his hand, sliding one palm under his calloused flesh, and one palm above it.
"Welcome to Evangrove."
