She was floating

She was drifting

She was flying

She was basking

 In happiness

Her smile wide

Her face a bright, wondrous

Prism of colors

Laughter rang

Like tiny, tinkling bells

All around her

Wherever she walked

Her long, lilac dress

Drifting behind her

Like a silky veil

She was a firework

Of surprises

Of energy

Of excitement

You'd never know

What to expect from her

Until it all came

Crashing down

Crashing down on her

Like a strong, rushing wave

Surrounding her world

In a curtain of black

The insults started

Every day

Everywhere she walked

And the shrieks

The laughs of evil glee

The mocking sneers

She didn't know why they did it

Perhaps they saw

A fire burning in her eyes

A hint of defiance

A tinge of confidence

That raged around her

In a swirl of emotions

Or perhaps

It was because

She was fragile

She was gentle

She was happy

They took it upon them

To break her

To ruin her

Bit by bit

To rip apart

Every bit of pride

She had burning

In her heart

And they did.
