Jasmine POV:

I walked out of my last class for the day grunting and moaning. I had my goddamn period and this shit was no joke today.

This morning when I got up I made Nettie and Genesis breakfast as usual and left not saying a word because I knew if I opened my mouth I would not be a very pleasant person to be around.

"Jasmine!" I heard someone shout my name out.

"Ugh fuck," I whispered turning around to see Malcolm running toward me. "What Malcolm?"

"Wow, I was just going to tell you that we needed to get together for the project," Malcolm said. As I looked over him the black eye that Genesis gave him was still there and evident making me happy to see that Genesis kicked his ass.

"Iight, we'll do it another time I don't feel well," I said, when he nodded I walked off to my car driving home.

As soon as I got home I took my ass straight to the bed. My stomach was killing me and I was getting a headache. I just knew I was going to be irritable and if someone talked to me the wrong way I knew I was not going to be to nice about how I was going to talk.

I was rolling around in the bed groaning and moaning when I hear the front door open.

"Eli man I done told you we gotta get this done, I'm ready to be out," Genesis said, "Nettie go do your homework."

"But mommy let's me get a snack," Nettie said.

"Alright fine," Genesis said. After a door closed I heard some shuffling.

"All I'm saying is that we don't even have to acknowledge him," Eli said.

"Naw, man that ain't gonna work for me I want Reed to suffer. Hit him in his pockets and that will sure enough break him. I already got his ego, now we gotta get his money and he ain't gonna be shit."

"Iight, whatever you want. But where Jasmine at?"

"She got class or something to do at school so Imma keep my tired ass here and chill."

"Well at least your lucky ass got something to lay next to at night, I just been dating around," Eli whined.

"You gotta find a woman, not no girl. Find that girl that makes you want to settle down and make that family you and me was always having when we was kids," Genesis advised.

I was just lying on the bed listening to their conversation when I got an excruciating pain rip through my body.

"What the fuck was that?" Eli said sounding alarmed.

"I don't know it sounded like some type of animal," Genesis replied. I heard some shuffling before I saw Genesis entering the room gun first. Once he saw that it was me he put the gun up.

"Girl what you doing here, ain't you supposed to be in school?" Genesis asked.

"Ugh!" was my simple reply before I rolled over in the bed pressing my face in the bed.

"Oh, it was here, she sound like a dying cow," Eli said laughing.

"Shut the fuck up before you know how that dying cow feels," I shouted looking him dead in the eyes. He backed up with both his hands out stretched.

"Damn what bit her in the ass?" Eli.

"Nigga I don't think you should be fucking with her right now," Genesis warned.

"What she acting like something crawled up her ass," Eli said.

"Oh you think something crawled up my ass?" I asked getting off the bed marching toward him. "I'll go all the way to New York and pull one of those big ass rats from one of the god-damned alley way and have it crawl up your ass then you tell me how that feels. And while your at it, tell me how it feels when a thousand little demon creatures are jumping on your stomach!" I yelled approaching Eli and I almost started to hit him until Genesis snatched me up from around my waist and brought me back to the bed and another wave of cramps snuck up on me.

"I told yo ass to leave her alone, I don't know what's wrong with her but your dumb ass went and fueled the fire," Genesis said.

"I think this is what they were talking about on those commercials. She's grunting and she's grumpy," Eli explained.

Genesis' eyes popped as he understood what he meant, and Eli just started laughing.

"Nigga stop laughing this shit ain't funny," Genesis groaned.

"Well Imma go because I don't want to get any form of blood on me either from myself, or from her," Eli joked walking out.

We were left in the room with me in misery on the bed an Genesis taking a deep breathe.

"How am I supposed to help?" Genesis asked looking at me.

"You don't this is just how it goes, you sit in unbearable pain until it goes away," I explained moving to put my head on the pillow trying to go to sleep.  "If you want I can move to another room and you can be all good."

"Jasmine you don't have to leave you can just relax here and I'll figure this out," Genesis said leaving.

I laid on the bed not trying to do anything but will the pain away. Eventually I fell asleep and the pain dulled in my sleep.

"Jasmine, Jasmine," I heard a voice chanting my name while I was still deep in sleep.

"Come on mommy we got you stuff to make you feel better," I heard Nettie say.

"I don't want to get up," I groaned turning the other way.

"Mommy if you don't get up you'll get a beating," Nettie threatened. I grunted but got up and sat on the bed. In  front of me Genesis was standing with a  tray with a bottle of motrin a snickers, twix, and kit kat. Nettie was holding her favorite teddy bear in her little arms.

"I googled what to do, apparently there is a pill in which can help with your pains.

"And teddy always helps me when I'm sick," Nettie added.

"Ahh you guys are great," I said reaching for the teddy bear first making Nettie stick her tongue out at  Genesis.

"And take this medicine so that you can feel all better," Genesis said handing me the water and Nettie got on bed with me rubbing my tummy after I took the medicine. I shared my Kit Kats with her as she rubbed my stomach. We watched a bunch of TV as Genesis fixed us a wonderful dinner of crawfish soup and bread with asiago cheese.

Nettie fell asleep rubbing my stomach and Genesis took her to bed and came back to continue to rub my stomach.

"Thank you baby, this has got to be one of my better periods," I said with a smile.

"Oddly enough that's comforting to hear," Genesis said smiling up at me.
