Newt couldn't take it anymore, he had to hold her. It was an instinct.

"Just come here." He told her, and Wendy felt confused for a second. But when she saw his slightly widened arms, she knew what he meant.

Wendy wanted to resist his gesture and just walk away, but it was like he was calling to her. Newt was warm. Like the sun and a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day. Wendy knew him, or at least she used to, so she scooted over, deciding that the chances she didn't take she might regret in the future. Newt was comforting, and that's exactly what Wendy needed at the moment.

Newt helped her by pulling the girl into his arms, even slightly lifting her so that she was in between his legs, her back rested against his hard chest. Immediately, his warm arms enveloped her like a blanket, and Wendy shivered, feeling...in place for the first time since she woke up hanging upside down.

She felt safe.

"I believe you." Wendy finally said aloud. She could feel Newt, the boy that was comforting her, shift. "About the glade, about everything. For some reason, I know I can trust you. It must be because of, because of what we were before, but it seems like there's something else. Like I have to trust you."

Then, Newt relaxed underneath her, and Wendy shifted so that her head was by his neck, her breaths hitting his skin lightly. Newt felt complete, like everything was okay. He knew that the Wendy he was holding was not the same girl as before, but what he did know was that they still loved each other. He still loved her.

And he wasn't stopping anytime soon.

"No food, water. What do we do now?" Minho asked the people he was surrounded by. They were currently discussing what had been happening lately once again, Newt, Wendy, Thomas, Frypan, and Winston listening in.

"There has to be a supply somewhere." Wendy sighed, wiping her face stressfully. "If we were so damn important they'd give us food, don't you think? There has to be something we can eat or else we're going to bloody die here."

"Agreed." Thomas said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Wendy's right, Ava said we were important. That has to mean something."

Newt's eyes shifted to Thomas, but Wendy didn't notice because she was too busy looking at Minho as he spoke.

"We should split up, take each room and search for anything we can shuckin' find." he instructed. Wendy nodded, as did the rest.

"Pairs of two." Winston interrupted. "Just in case. I'll be with Fry."

Wendy's eyes danced around the table. She could feel tension, a large amount of it after Winston spoke. Thomas, Minho, and Newt were looking at each other with expressions that Wendy couldn't read.

"I'll take Wendy." Minho and Newt said simultaneously, them both looking at each other dangerously with their hands clenched onto the table they were standing around. Their words were sharp and sort of demanding, Newt's blonde hair falling on his face and Minho's bulging arms growing bigger by the seconds.

Wendy looked over at Thomas next to her, and he seemed like he could read her mind because he grabbed her wrist softly before looking over at Minho and Newt. "Wendy and I are paired. You and Minho go search Teresa's room, we'll take the downstairs floor." he said, and Wendy watched as Newt and Minho sent him glares, but she didn't know why though. "Let's go, Wendy."

She nodded, glad to get away from all the tension before she sent Newt a small smile. Letting Thomas lead her, she followed his figure downstairs, her hand in his. He was cold to the touch, something that Wendy didn't really like. He wasn't warm, he wasn't comforting, he seemed almost foreign to her, but none the less she clenched his hand tightly as they finally reached the bottom floor.

Wendy flicked on the light using the switch to her left, a burst of white filling the room immediately.

"Food and water. It has to be here somewhere." Thomas muttered as the two walked into the living room. Unlike the upstairs area, the room was hardly decorated and lacked any sort of color besides gray. Dust filled her nose when she accidentally bumped into a table too, making her sneeze and then cough before she wiped her face with a disgusted frown. Thomas was laughing at her, making Wendy grin and hit him on the shoulder.

"Real charmer are you." Thomas muttered as they looked around in any sort of hiding place, finally moving away from each other. "No wonder those two like you."

Wendy's ears perked up at what he muttered under his breath, immediately snapping her head at Thomas who was on his knees on the other side of the room, looking inside a drawer. "Those two?" she questioned, cocking her head at him. "I thought Newt—"

"Oblivious too." Thomas interrupted, "Do you not see the way they look at you? Minho too?"

She sucked in a deep breath, not wanting to believe his words. He was right though, there were countless times she had caught Minho looking at her whenever she wasn't paying attention. The odd stares, the not so subtle touches. She had just assumed that he was her best friend before she lost her memories; she would have never thought....

"Now I know." Wendy retorted as they ventured into another room, her eyes grazing the blue sheets and white walls oddly. They were spotless, besides the large red stain on the carpet below them that Wendy wanted to believe was merely ketchup. "I knew something was off, Thomas. Is that all I haven't figured out yet or don't know?"

Thomas looked at her, and Wendy looked at him. He had stopped breathing, his chest still and stone as they stared at each other. His eyes held something else, something unfamiliar that Wendy couldn't put her finger on. Then, he let out a deep breath before turning around, gaze averting from hers as he spoke.

"There's nothing else we've hidden from you, Wendy. I promise."

And she believed him.
