BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ!

I huff at my alarm clock, burying my head deeper under the pillow. I can't be bothered to go to school today regardless if it is Wednesday, mid week, its just effort.

Something I don't have.

BUZZ! BU-

"Be quiet." I cut in, slamming down on the snooze button. I wince at the pain in my hand then eventually departure from my best friend.

My bed.

Yawning and stretching the muscles, that I don't have, I walk down the hall into the bathroom switching on the shower. "Lee."

"Yeah." I shout back to my Aunty Onika. From the smell, she's making scrambled eggs and it smells good, making my stomach rumble and my mouth water. Either herself or my Uncle Derrick always cook a big breakfast in the morning, because they know that I will normally go without.

"Are you up?"

"Yeah." I reply with another yawn. "About to shower."

"Don't be too long." She says. "I have to shower and don't be wasting our water, its expensive."

I snort a laugh and step back into the bathroom. Once I've washed, I wrap my towel around myself and leave the bathroom.

"Coming through." I stumble when Akoni, my thirteen year old cousin, barges past me and into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.

"Akoni!" I snap, adjusting my towel so it doesn't fall onto the floor.

"Sorry Lee, I gotta go. Last night's curry is repeating on me."

I cringe and walk back into my bedroom. After spending about ten minutes, debating what to wear and sitting in my towel while I read over my chemistry textbook, I finally make up my mind.

Throwing on a pastel yellow skirt with a match cropped jacket and a white crop top, I pair it with some simple trainers.

My hair, I just allow to fall down my back naturally whilst I do my makeup to hide the hideous bags under my eyes.

With my face complete and my perfume sprayed, I clean away my mess and room before grabbing my bag and rushing downstairs.

"Only took you thirty minutes today to get ready." Uncle Derrick says when he notices me walk in.

I dryly laugh and shrug. "New record." He hums and raises a brow at my outfit but doesn't comment. I roll my eyes. "We're in May and the weather is warm outside."

"We love Global Warming." Aunty Onika chimes in, making us laugh. "Lee sit and eat, your food will be getting cold."

I nod and take a seat. She sets a plate in front of Uncle Derrick, who gives her with a kiss as thank you. I smile, those two are the cutest couple.

I do envy their relationship but then again part of me is glad to be single. Since if I got a boyfriend, it means I'll have to actually put effort into something.

"Where is Akoni?" Uncle Derrick asks me.

"Bathroom, last time I checked." I reply, before shoving more food into my mouth. "I'm not sure if he's still there."

He nods. "Alright, well Lee are you okay to drop him off for us today?" I nod, I normally drop off Akoni because his school is on the way to my college.

"He has football after school today so don't worry about collecting him." Aunty Onika says.

I hum. "I wasn't worrying."
