19. Your Song

Harry: ‘Come on Get Higher’ by: Matt Nathanson. Although Harry is a very cheeky boy, when he’s with you he likes to refer to the two of you having sex as ‘making love’. He sung this song to you after the first time you two had made love, making you fall asleep. In the morning, you asked Harry what the song meant and when he explained it to you, it became your song officially and he spent the rest of the day singing it to you. It showed you that Harry wasn’t the “manwhore” that everybody had made him out to be. You were his girlfriend; he genuinely cared about you and you knew that he wasn’t going to use you for his own pleasure.

Liam: ‘Kiss Me Slowly’ by: Parachute. You were on your second date with Liam, taking a walk in the park. There was a local band that was playing nearby and the two of you decided to see if they were any good. When you reached the small area where they were playing, you immediately knew that the song was ‘Kiss Me Slowly’. You smiled when you heard the vocalist sing it nearly perfectly and gripped Liam’s hand a bit tighter. Halfway through the song, Liam leant down to whisper in your ear, “You look stunning tonight.” You smiled and turned to look him in the eyes, about to say something, but cut short when he kissed your lips softly. Your first kiss together. “Can this be our song? I like it,” Liam asked with a small smile. You giggle and nod your head, not knowing that it would also be the song you two dance to at your wedding.

Louis: ‘All You Need Is Love’ by: The Beatles. You were watching the old X-Factor videos with Louis, making fun of his hair and clothing for the most part. But when it got to ‘All You Need Is Love’, you remained quiet. The Beatles were one of your favorite bands and you thought that One Direction did an amazing job at covering the song. “I think you just had a break through,” Louis began in a teasing tone, “You went through a whole video without making fun of me once,” he finished, poking your side. You giggled, “I just really love that song,” you replied. “I’m quite fond of it as well… that should be our song. It’s an amazing song and we’re obviously an amazing couple,” Louis stated with a wink. You giggled and bit your lip, “Yeah… that’s our song?” you questioned in an excited tone. Louis let out a chuckle before replying, “That’s our song,” pulling you into his tight grip as you continued to make fun of your boyfriend’s appearance two years ago.

Niall: ‘She Is Love’ by: Parachute. Niall sung this song to you on your two year dating anniversary, accompanying his beautiful voice with his guitar-playing skills. When you met Niall, he wasn’t in a great place; he was very insecure and was very embracing of his tiny flaws. You brought him out of his almost depressed stage. You listened to his problems, and helped him as best as you could. You understood when he said that he needed to be alone and you respected that, knowing what he had been through before. This song was your guys’ relationship in his point of view. He loves everything about you and the song became your relationship song the second his finished singing it.

Zayn: ‘Your Guardian Angel’ by: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. It’s no surprise that Zayn is a protective boyfriend. You’re his girl and nobody can ever take you away from him. One day you were listening to the song on your laptop without your headphones in. When Zayn heard the lyrics, he turned towards your computer. “What song is that?” he wondered before answering his own question as he read the title and artist. After typing it in your phone, Zayn kissed your head and walked up to your guys’ bedroom. You were confused at first, but shrugged it off and continued to browse on your laptop. When you two were settled in bed that night, you heard Zayn singing the song quietly in your ear. It was the first time that he had ever sung you to sleep and you knew that this was going to be your relationship song.
