"There's a party tonight and we're going," my cousin says as he brings his attention back to me from his phone. "And don't even think about saying no."

I lay my eReader on the bed and look up at the door to where he's standing. He's smirking at me because he knows I'm going to give him the same answer I always give him.

"Look Joshua, I know you've been trying to get me to go to a party since we've been back, but-"

"Hell no, Adalyn you are not going to sit in this room another night and read a fucking book. We're on break and you need to have some fun before we go back to school. You're going to the party with me."

"Joshua... You know I don't go to parties. I have to start this paper and-"

"That paper isn't due until February! It's only December. Come on don't be like that. You never party with me when we're at school, so please come to this one."

I roll my eyes and laugh at him because he never gives up. We go to the same college in Oregon, but since it's Christmas break we're back at home in Ohio. To say that we're close is an understatement. We've been living together for nine years. I moved in with my aunt when I was ten years old because my parents died in a car accident. I was my parents only child. I was supposed to have a little brother, but my mom was never able to give birth to him.

I look at him and sigh. "I don't have anything to wear."

Shrugging, he says, "So? Call Madison and Ava and tell them to help you with whatever you girls do."

I shake my head and laugh at him and say, "You don't give up. Alright, I'll text them to see if they want to come too."

"Whatever. I'm sure they already know about the party. Especially Ava. We can all ride together, but I don't know if Madison would ride with us. She hates me."

"She doesn't hate you, Joshua."

"You don't even know the half of it, but I'm over this conversation. Be ready by eleven and I'll see you in a bit."

I fall back onto the bed and look up at the ceiling. "What did I let Joshua talk me into," I say to myself.

I send Madison and Ava a group message and they reply back instantly saying they'll be here in thirty minutes.

I get off the bed and go to the bathroom that's connected to my bedroom so I can take a shower. I turn the knob to the hottest temperature it can go.

I'm not going to lie, I'm really nervous about tonight. I'll know mostly everyone at the party, thanks to Joshua of course. Being the best college runner back in the country, people will for sure notice you and since he make it known to everyone that I'm his cousin, well you know the rest. I really don't care for the popularity. Girls have always wanted to be my friend, but not because of me. They always wanted to use me to get to my cousin, so that is exactly why I've had the same two friends since childhood. Ava and Madison.

Twenty minutes later, and I'm walking towards the living room to hang with Joshua and wait on the girls. As I'm walking, I hear a obnoxious, but recognizable voice.

"What's up dickhead." I roll my eyes at the stupid comment Cooper just made. Cooper is Joshua's best friend and he's probably the most conceited asshole you'll ever meet, but you can't help but to love him.

I enter the living room and both boys look up.

Cooper smiles and walk over to hug me. "Damn Lynn, you look good."

I'm an average looking girl. I'm five foot six, with medium brown skin tone, and dark brown hair that falls above my waist. I have a curvy figure and brownish green eyes. My family always tell me I have a natural beauty. Whatever the hell that means.
