"Guess we don't need your cooking skills anymore, Frypan." Wendy taunted as Newt climbed up and onto the bunk with her. The group laughed at the joke before the staff nodded and left with smiles.

Everything was going well so far, actually so good that Wendy looked over at Newt and said, "Is this real?"

Newt chuckled and leaned down and kissed the girl softly, his hair tickling her face before he pulled away. "I can't believe it either. It's such a bloody change."

Wendy sighed and leaned on his shoulder, watching as men brought in large boxes of goodness. "It's a good change though. I just hope it lasts."

"We don't need to worry about that now, love. They just brought in pizza." Newt grinned as he jumped off the edge and then looked up at Wendy, outstretching his hands as Wendy rolled her eyes.

"Alright, alright." she said with a chuckle before she slowly scooted off the edge and landed on the ground with the help of the blonde. "Now, let's get some before Winston sticks his face in all of it and calls dibs."

"Heard that!" the boy yelled across the room, and Newt laughed and threw an arm around Wendy, slowly trying to forget about all the people they lost as they served themselves three slices each and then settled on one of the tables with Thomas, Minho, and Teresa.

Wendy devoured the slices she was served in a matter of minutes, Minho laughing at the girl softly when she accidentally slapped herself in the face with the last one.

Right after they ate, another women showed up and called lights out. Wendy didn't argue along with everyone else because she was exhausted. Not even nine hours ago had the girl witnessed a friend die and fight for her life against monsters that tore some of her family apart. She still had bruises and scratches and the slice on her forehead was now starting to scab and the hole in her arm and gash in her leg were stitched up on the bus, reminding her of everything that had happened.

The girl limped her way to her bed, but felt an arm grab her, stopping her actions immediately.

"You're not sleeping here." a women's voice said, making the girl turn around and look at her oddly. "You'd be in a room full of boys by yourself."

Wendy pulled her grip away from the woman and frowned, seeing two other staff come up behind her, guns held in their hands. "I happen to know these boys and they wouldn't do anything to harm me." she said, disgusted at the fact that they actually thought these boys would hurt her in some way. "Plus, I can defend myself." she spit out, feeling Newt, Thomas, and Minho come up behind her quickly.

"Your other friend Teresa is sleeping separately as well. I advise you do too." she said, and Wendy sighed in defeat when she flashed the girl her gun.

She turned to Newt in the dimmed lights, deciding that it would be best to cooperate with the people who rescued her in the first place instead of fighting them over sleeping arrangements. A small lamp illuminated a fraction of their faces, and Wendy could see Newt staring at her with slight disappoint that she wouldn't be in the same room as him.

"I'll see you in the morning?" she asked, seeing that everyone was climbing into bed quietly around them and watching the scene unfold. Newt nodded his head and dipped his head and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, a light one that made Wendy smile and blush.
