Chapter 18: Getting to Know You

Start from the beginning

Yeah, I was a loser.

I wast surprised Drew didn't come talk to me during lunch. He is Mr.Popular isn't he?

School was over and I was walking home with Drew by my side, Trent was supposed to pick me up but I texted him telling him Drew was coming home with me and we would just walk.

"What was that show during lunch about?" Drew asked me slinging his back pack over his shoulder. "What? You mean the salad thing? It was nothing," I played it off. "You know, if she's bothering you then you can tell me, I'm not gunna make fun of you or anything," he said. "Thanks," I told Drew.

He still didn't really know that she basically bullies me but he did witness her teasing me at Drew's friends Bon fire. "She just likes to pick on me is all," I told Drew falling into his step. A pick up truck pulled by us, someone rolled down the window, "aye, need a ride?" One of Drew's friends asked. He shook his head, "nah," Drew replied. "Okay suit yourself," his friend said pulling away, then I heard a whistle and Drew just chuckled and shook his head.

Does his friend think Drew likes me? Of course Drew doesn't. He would never. I'm not one of those sexy, super skinny, tan girls that I would expect him to date. I'm also not one of those desperate girls who literally, and I mean literally throws themselves at Drew. Sure he had a cute face and all... but why would you make yourself look so desperate like that? Those types of girls were so annoying, they try way too hard and they aren't getting anywhere.

"So... About Emma," Drew said interrupting my thoughts, "why does she hate you so much?" he continued. Well, you were drunk and you made out with her at the first party you took me too. First high-school party I've ever been too actually. And I interrupted your little make out session because I needed your help. I was being touched by some drunk teenager. But you just rolled your eyes at me and left me like I was road kill. Later, Emma ditched me because I wasn't 'cool' enough for her and she thought I was 'stealing' you from her.

That's why.

"Uh... It's nothing really, long story," I mumbled. "Can you sum it up a bit?" He asked. I rolled my eyes, "long story short, she's ditched me for popularity," I summarized. "Oh, if she ever bothers you and you need someone to talk to, you can always come to your best friend," Drew smiled. I raised an eyebrow, "and who would that be?" I asked playing dumb. "Me..." Drew answered awkwardly.

"Well gee, thanks best friend for asking me if I was okay at lunch," I sarcastically remarked. "Aye, no problem," Drew grinned, even though you and I both know he didn't help me one bit. We both fell into each others step and awkwardly walked in silence.

I tripped on the side walk being as clumsy as I was and bumped into Drew. Yup... I was a hot mess. "Woah, look babe, I know I'm the total package but you don't have to throw yourself at me like that," he said helping me balance myself. "Shut up, you ass," I muttered. Gosh, he's so full it sometimes I swear.

Drew put his hand to his chest and batted his eyelashes, "I'm offended," he sarcastically pouted. How cheesy... "Oh I'm sorry, is little Drew getting up set? Is he getting sensitive?" I said in a baby voice pinching his cheek. Drews face turned pink and he pushed my hand away. He straightened up his posture, "pfft, no!" He retorted trying to look tough. I laughed a little but then I dialed it down.

"Enough talking about me, lets talk about you," I suggested. "You want to talk about me?" Drew asked seeming surprised. "Well, I mean sure we're friends I guess but all I know about you is that your an arrogant jock who's basically the player at our school," I smirked. I lied though, I didn't want to learn more about Drew, I honestly didn't care. I just didn't want to talk about Emma anymore. It's filling me up with rage.

"Okay then shortie, what do you want to know?" He questioned me. I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know, just tell me about yourself, tell me about your family maybe?" I said like I was asking a question. He nodded his head, "okay well... My parents aren't divorced, I am an only child. I like to play football, basketball, and lacrosse. My grades aren't decent, I get mostly C's on my report card. And I like girls," he smirked as he said that last part.

For the fiftieth time I rolled my eyes at him, "man whore," I mumbled. "I heard that!" Drew defended himself. I fake smiled sweetly, "you were supposed to darling," I said in a cute voice.

I don't see how Drew and I have anything in common. I don't really play sports, and he plays like five. His parents aren't divorced and my parents abandoned Trent and I. He's a player and I'm a goody-two-shoes. He gets bad grades and I do excellent on my report card. This is why I don't like him, because we're total opposites, like Ive mentioned in the past.

"Hey... what's wrong?" Drew asked. I noticed my eyebrows were furrowed like it was this morning in the car with Trent, I relaxed my face, "nothing," I said brushing it off. "Are you sure?" He asked me, I nodded, I'm fine.

"What else is there to know about you, Mr. player," I teased Drew braking the silence. He chuckled and face palmed himself. "Well, I guess you could say I have my romantic moments," he stated. And yes, that was true, he could be romantic, very romantic actually.

"And, I also have mega sexy abs," he winked, what a flirt. "Are you trying to impress me?" I smirked. "Pfft, what? no, I'm just saying I have some hot abs babe," he said giving me a lopsided smile. "I don't believe you," I tested him. Actually I lied, I said that just as an excuse to check out his abs. He lifted up his shirt, he did have abs, they weren't totally ripped but they did have tone.

"Like what you see?" He said covering his stomach with his shirt. I noticed I have been staring for a while. I laughed, "uh... No," I bluffed. "Don't deny it," Drew said annoyingly. I would've said something cocky about my self but it's not like I had anything about my self to brag about. I was your typical nerd.

We had finally reached my house and Trent's car was in the drive way. I figured if I'm spending my whole day with this goofball standing next to me, it was going to be one hell of a day.
