It's been nearly a month since he saw that girl. He's been to the dog park every chance he got yet he has never crossed her once. For some odd reason, Ray couldn't stop thinking about the girl. There was something about her he couldn't shake off. He couldn't have possibly developed a crush a on her during that short encounter. Or maybe he did. He just needed to see Christa again.

Christa.

He liked the way her name sounded, how well the word rolled of his lips when he'd mouth her name. Ray wondered if she thought about him or even remembered his existence.

Ray decided to go to the dog park one last time before Christmas break. The cold air hitting his face as he walked with Toby. Despite it being the end of December, there was only an inch or so of snow thanks to global warming. At least it was lightly snowing, the snowflakes falling into his curly hair because Ray never wears a hat.

His heart pounded as they got closer and closer to the park. Ray was nervous. Nervous to see her or to be let down with disappointment again? He wanted to turn around and run back home but he couldn't. What if she was here today? What if Christa was at the dog park today?

Ray didn't notice they had reached the park until Toby started tugging on the leash, desperate to be freed to run around. He smiles and bends down to untie it, looking around the small park for a certain girl. No luck.

Toby runs around, circling Ray and rolling in the snow, begging for him to throw the ball. Ray smiles at his dog, forgetting all his worries as he spends his time playing with him. If anyone can cheer up Ray, it had to Toby and for that he was forever grateful for his dog.

After an hour, Ray's hands, despite being in thick gloves, started to feel cold and he decided that it was time to leave. As he fastens the leash on his dogs collar, he looks around one more time for that magical girl only to find the park empty. With a heavy heart, Ray admits to himself he will never see her again.

As he exits the park, he here's a cheerful voice call his name from behind. "Ray!" He turns around and faces a girl standing there with her dog, wearing glasses and a knitted hat.

"Christa!" The sinking feeling in Ray's stomach disappeared and now butterflies were fluttering instead. "Was hoping to see you here one day."

"Same here." Christa gives him a light smile,"But school and stuff and urg. I even sprained my ankle and couldn't leave the house for days. I'm really happy to be here and to see you again."

"Well I'm here. Want to sit down while our dogs run around together?"He all of a sudden forgot the coldness in his hands. Ray leads her to a bench and they let their dogs run wild. They started to talk, having an actual conversation.

Ray learns she's from New York and that she doesn't miss it at all. Christa also admitted to loving Metallica and Led Zeppelin which made Ray die a little inside. Not only was she a dog lover but she loved his favourite artists as well. He couldn't help but admit to himself that maybe he does have a crush on this girl.

The afternoon was fading and the day light was dimming indicated it was both time for them to leave. Christa pulled out her phone and smiled "Like I said, I got a new phone."

Ray smiles and pulls out his, "And I didn't forget this time." They exchange numbers and he couldn't help but feel extremely happy for some reason.

"I'm going back to New York for the holidays but we can possibly hang out any time after." Christa smiles at him, her eyes sparkling and snow drizzling her hair. She looked beautiful and Ray was surprised he didn't just admit everything right then and there. "Only if you'd want to."
