Chapter Twenty-Four

I chuckled. "It was very interesting, especially the part when you talked about the virgin boys," I said.

Teddy smirked. "That was my favorite part," he said.

"Why did you change your speech at the last second?" I asked him, confused.

He shrugged. "It just didn't feel right to talk about them as heroes only because they finished high school," he said. "Most of them are a bunch of fakers, and I wanted them to know that they couldn't fool anyone."

I smiled. "You're awesome, Teddy," I said.

"I don't really think so," he said. "I think it was stupid. I should've just stuck to the regular speech format. You know, talking about how awesome and challenging college is going to be and all that.

"Nah," I said. "It would've been boring and unoriginal."

He smiled. "But they were expecting me to tell a boring and unoriginal speech, Chris."

I smirked. "And that's exactly why you had to avoid doing it. Teddy Harper never does what others expect him to. He stays true to his heart and does what he truly desires to do."

Teddy smiled and kissed my cheek. "You're the best girlfriend ever, Chris," he said, grabbing my hand and squeezing it gently.

I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. He ran his hands through my hair sweetly.

"I would never trade you for anyone else in the whole world," he whispered.

After the graduation ceremony, we all made our way to prom. It was actually nothing out of the extraordinary, but with Teddy everything was an adventure, so I enjoyed it very much.

We danced and had fun, and I particularly enjoyed dancing a slow song with Teddy.

He wrapped his arms around me, and I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"I can't believe it's all over," he whispered on my ear.

"I can't believe I'm here with you," I said.

He scoffed. "It's not like I'm a celebrity or something."

I smiled. "I know, but you're still pretty amazing."

"You are even better, Chris," he said. "I can't believe someone like me ended up with someone like you. You're too good for me."

"That's not true," I whispered, moving my body to the slow, calm beat of the song.

"It is," he said, sighing.

"You know it isn't."

Teddy did not say anything. He just kept dancing. A fast song came after that one, and we danced it, too.

We both danced until our feet hurt, and we loved every second of it.

"You look breathtakingly gorgeous," said Teddy as we finished dancing and sat down at our table.

I blushed a little. I did not really like how I looked. He, on the other hand, looked extremely handsome with his black suit and his green tie. I loved how it matched his hair.

"Thank you," I whispered. "You look very handsome."

Teddy smiled and grabbed my hand, leading me to the dance floor once again, and we spent the rest of the night dancing and laughing and being ourselves.

Once prom was over, Teddy, Louise, Henry, and I went to the beach, and we talked about everything and everyone. It was very beautiful, especially because Teddy looked even more handsome sitting next to the sea.
