Chapter 20 -- Remembering the Light

Start from the beginning

"No thank you Luna," Tina said as she watched me.

"I can't tell you what this is about, it's for your safety and the safety of your children. Say, weren't you pregnant?" I asked smiling?

"Yes! I had a girl, she's adorable. Her names Piper and she's very energetic. Tina told me a few stories of her children while I was thinking about what to do with Neil.

When she was done and smiling, I stood up and stretched my neck. "I need to see Neil, and I need to bring Stephen. Can I meet you in your room in about an hour or so? I need to see if Tamara can watch Matt.

"Of course Luna, I'll make tell Neil you're coming over."

"Tina, I want to ask you to not tell him. I believe if you do he might run from us, and he's not in his right mind right now. Can you do that for me? For Neil? I think we can help him, but we can't if he runs."

Tina looked at me and nodded her head 'yes'. "Alright Luna, Neil and I don't keep secrets though, I've never done it before."

"I understand, but if you decide to tell him make sure you bring a warrior to keep him in the room. It's imperative he doesn't run away. In order to help you I'm making this a Luna Order."

Tina looked at me and thought for a minute, then said, "Very well, I will wait for you in our rooms. Something bad is going on, isn't it Luna?"

"Yes, Tina, Neil is going to need you and the children after this. And I need you to be strong no matter what you hear, and no matter how Neil reacts. He's not quite himself right now I don't think."

Tina looked at me and bowed her head, then left the room. I linked Tamara to see if she could watch Matt, then I linked Stephen to inform him of what was going on. I then linked Dr. Tosell to see if there was any way she could join us. We might need to tranquilize Neil if things turned ugly, and there was a strong possibility they would before I was done. Both Tamara and Stephen said they would arrive within five minutes. I pulled up a stool next to Matthew's crib and played with him for a few minutes waiting for them. I loved it when he grabbed my fingers. And I tried to imagine him as a feisty teenager, huge and hormonal and devastatingly handsome like his father. It seemed like such a long way off. And right now I loved holding him and rubbing my cheek against his soft hair, and inhaling his special pup scent. It was so nice.

Tamara arrived and I went to the bathroom and got ready. Stephen was in the room talking to his mother when I returned, and he looked at me. I needed to tell him my plan, but didn't want to talk in front of Tamara. But I didn't want to hurt her feelings.

"Mother," Stephen said, "thanks for watching Matt, Danika and I need to talk to Neil. He's having a tough time, and we think we can help him."

Tamara picked up Matthew and started rocking him in her arms. "I understand Stephen, and I enjoy helping out when I can. Go ahead, I'm fine," she finished, smiling at us and then smiling at Matthew. We walked to Stephen's office and linked the Doctor to meet us there.

"You'll have to show him the images again, won't you?" Stephen said after he shut the door.

"Well, I think I need to show him the antidote, there isn't any other way." I stopped and blew out a breath trying not to cry just thinking about that day. I seemed to cry a lot and I didn't like it very much. I gulped and made myself continue, "Then I need to show him how to defeat Death's grip. He's dwelling on the hopelessness, and not the 'light'. It's the light, Stephen, it's the connections and the light that will defeat it long enough for us to do what we need to do. He's forgotten that part, and that's my fault. I was so consumed by being a new mother I should have checked on him".
