Three sisters

Raya, Tsilya, Mira

Two now in heaven

My grandmother Raya

Went first

In 2002

She was the oldest

Raya was the

Only one that married

Had kids

And a grandchild

Me

Tsilya and Mira

Were always together

Never got married

No children

Alone in Israel

A mistake of their

Own making

Three sisters

Survivors of WWII

Bombing raids

Avoided capture

From the Nazis

Running through a forest

Without any shoes

With a cow

While bombs rained

Around them

Hopped aboard

A moving train

Whisked away to safety

Didn't fall victim

To the horror

That befell 67 members

Of our family

The Holocaust

Out of the

Three sisters

My Mira

Was the most

Caring

Funny

Blunt

Maybe that's where I get it from

My Mira

Was popular

Young or old

Loved by a whole town

Slutsk, Belarus USSR

Growing up there

She would clap

Her hands

Sing and dance

With me

When they moved

To Israel

We came to visit

Her for the first time

In 1995

She cried when she saw me

Would always

Ask a million questions

About my life

Even on the phone

My Mira

Whose face would

Wrinkle up when

She smiled

Who had a very

Silly giggle

Is in the sky

Dancing with the angels

Even when she was sad

She would smile

That smile that lit a room

Wanted to tell you

About my Mira

You

The world so large

Yet so small somehow

Death

Be it sudden

Or awaited

Takes a piece

Of your heart away

My Mira

Survivor

Caring woman

Friend

Sister

Aunt

Great aunt

Has that piece

The wind beneath

My soul

Heart

And spirit

Rest in forever peace

My Mira

I love you

Someday we will

All be together again
