Chapter 29 - Killer Instinct
If I were to go into detail of the flight to Auckland, New Zealand, it would be long, very long. Therefore I'm going to sum up the journey in as few words as I can: Crazy, hyper, Black Hawk Down, Mission Impossible, Expendables fighting, alien hunting, food fighting, no sleep and stern worded madness.
In all fairness, I'm glad it was like that, it made the 19 hour journey go much quicker, sadly I am now completely exhausted. The downside was that we'd just landed at 7am in the morning, I don't think my body even knew what was happening, it could honestly be any time of day.
"What was the Marshes' address?" Noah asked an hour and a half later, it took that long to get through all the necessary ports in the airport,
"Te Rere Cove, Church Bay" I said, amazed that I'd remembered that,
"Taxi?" Arii asked, we all agreed.
I would like to say that we got into a taxi and were driven to the address with no bother at all, however, if you've been with us from the beginning, you know that things were never quite so simple.
We all bundled into the taxi, which was no bother and had begun the journey. We found out that it would take around an hour and 45 to get to our destination and that it was actually on a surrounding island.
"I think my bums just died and if it hasn't, it sure will any time soon" Noah said,
"I know the feeling, try a numb ass and numb leg. When I finally have a working leg, I'm literally going to run forever"
"I want to sleep, but I don't want to sleep, because my body needs to be active" Tayte said,
"I just want this to all be over, so I can sleep for a year and then do a Forest Gump and run across America" I said, everyone laughed,
"I'm joining you" Noah said,
"Same" Arii and Tayte answered together.
"So it's decided, we're going to Run Forest Run"
...
As you know, the rest of the journey to Church Bay wasn't as happy as that. No, of course not. We'd gone about half an hour, so were basically half way through the journey. The taxi driver was an old guy, if I didn't mention this before, a nice guy who happily chatted to us throughout the journey. We noticed the police car before he did,
"Um, there's a police car flashing you" Noah said,
"Oh yes, so there is, I didn't see that, I'm sorry. I'm sure it's nothing, they've been doing routine checks lately" He pulled over into a layby. Somehow I thought differently, it just seemed odd, strange somehow. Tayte looked at me, and I knew he was thinking the exact same thing. The taxi came to a stop and the old guy smiled warmly at us in the rear view mirror,
"I won't charge you for however long we're stopped" He said cheerfully, at least someone was in high spirits! The police officer came over to the window, tapping on it slowly, our taxi driver rolled it down, "Good morning officer, how can I help you?"
"Can I see your documents please and your passenger's passports"
"Of course. If you can get out your passports if they are on hand, that would be helpful" We all looked at each other, "You don't have to look so worried," Tayte reached down and pulled the rucksack onto his lap and began to take out our passports,
