Chapter 8 - Secrets revealed

"So is she going to be in today?" I asked as we pulled off,

"She should be" Tayte's Mum Miss Marcillo (A/N I can't remember if I mentioned Tayte's surname?) was a head teacher at a primary school. Tayte pulled up in the carpark of the school after 20 minutes and waited for me to get out,

"Can I..." I began,

"Leave you crutches?" He interrupted, I smiled,

"Yes"

"No" He told me, I rolled my eyes and grabbed my crutches as we headed inside. We went into reception. The lady at the desk looked up and smiled,

"How can I help you?" I noticed her eyes lingered on my face and body a bit too long, but I ignored it. It was too be expected wasn't it, the bruising was still evident on my face and you couldn't miss the boot and crutches,

"I need to see Mrs Marcillo" Tayte said,

"Do you have an appointment?"

"Just tell her, her son is here and it's urgent"

"Your Tayte" he nodded, she smiled and then walked off,

"Your Mum must talk about you" I said,

"Great"

"You know I got you right" I told him,

"Yeah I know" The receptionist came back after 5 minutes,

"I'll take you through" She said, we followed her, "What happened to you?" she then asked me,

"He doesn't like talking about it" Tayte said before I could reply,

"Oh, sorry" we continued in silence until we reached a door "She said to go in"

"Thank you" She smiled politely and left,

"I got you too" Tayte said, he knocked and we opened the door and went in. Jen (Tayte's Mums name) was stood looking pale and very shocked,

"What are you doing here? Are you back for good or just visiting? What happened to you Keane? I..." she trailed off.

Tayte's POV

"Before we answer any questions you have. You're going to tell us all you know about Keane's parents. The fact you knew they were spies and never told me is inexcusable" I said,

"Sit down and I'll tell you everything I know" She replied. I told Keane to sit down and grabbed another chair, setting it beside his,

"From the beginning Mum" I said and she began.

"Obviously you know that I have been friends with the Linkoln's since college. We grew up together and were really close. I went off for a few years and worked for GCHQ"

"What's GCHQ?" I asked,

"GCHQ is an intelligence and security organisation, working to keep Britain safe and secure in the challenging environment of modern communications"

"You were a spy" Keane said,

"I just worked with computers, I wasn't a spy and this was years ago, I'd just finished University. Anyway, it's just background to the story. Years later when MI6 approached your parents they approached me too. We both said no and that it wasn't going to happen. We wanted a family. Rhina fell pregnant and had Keane and then I had you. Rhina and Joey helped me so much, especially with your Dad running off" She paused. I knew she hated talking about my Dad, not that I should call him that, I don't know him and don't ever want to.
