48- Sleeping beauty

The two had managed to make it to the end of the day without letting their awkward postures ruin the rest of the day. Instead, they made it through the day by walking around town, talking like nothing was going on between them. To Sayuri, it seemed as though she were hanging out with Ino; there was nothing bad going on between her and Sasuke.

But when darkness took over the sky, that's where things got pretty freakin' weird.

Sayuri wasn't able to stay up as soon as eleven o' clock struck. She yawned every minute, she would sway as she walked alongside Sasuke on the streets of Konoha. (No cars were out because it was curfew for most of the townspeople. You really shouldn't be surprised...) What got to Sasuke, though, was when she laid her head on his shoulder because she couldn't keep her head up anymore.

Soon, her words were slurred as though she were drunk. Sasuke sighed, knowing that she would drop to the ground if she walked on any longer. Without any protest from the sleepy teenage girl, he places one arm by her underarms and the other by her back knees, causing him to carry her. Bridal style. Sayuri didn't scream at all, which was a good thing at this time of the day. Instead, she laid her head onto Sasuke's chest, letting her hair fall over her face as she immediately was knocked out by slumber.

He stopped. He couldn't help but widen his eyes at her sudden actions. Sure, it was out of sleepiness, but... how cliché was this move?

Familiar headlights shone through the street, causing Sasuke to turn his head toward the left. The car halted to a stop, and after a moment, a figure stepped out from the driver's seat. Sasuke recognized who it was as the figure approached him. It was Itachi.

He smirked at his older brother as Itachi reached him, assisting him into carrying Sayuri. "You're forty-five minutes early, aren't you?"

"Shut up. I was worried."

The two Uchihas carry the slumbering Sayuri to the car. Itachi was barely able to open the door to the back seat of the car. They carefully placed Sayuri inside in a lying position and made sure she looked at least a bit comfortable before shutting the door.

"Kakashi was insane for making you do that. Saying that you need to spend the rest of the day by yourselves. I mean, literally the rest of the day!"

Sasuke grunted. The boys had stepped inside of the car and prepared themselves for a short car ride home. "Well someone's being over-protective."

"Enough about me," Itachi retorted, setting the car on drive. He began driving off to the end of the street before making a right turn. "So by what I just saw when I found you two, I guess you two are alright again?"

"And hopefully it will stay that way."

"Good. I've grown pretty fond of that girl. I wouldn't want to lose contact with her because of my little brother's idiocy."

Itachi chuckled as soon as he saw Sasuke's reaction to that statement. Sasuke glared at him from the corners of his eyes. "Shut. Up."

Sayuri slowly fluttered her eyes open, taking a quick glance at her surroundings. Her eyes suddenly widened after a moment as she shot up. "Sh*t! Where am I?"

Sasuke was taken back by surprise for a second until he sighed in irritation. "You're back in the mansion, Baka."

"Oh, okay," Sayuri mumbled. She dropped herself back onto the pillow, face first.

He huffed. "You're acting like you haven't slept at all last night."

"I barely had any sleep because of how hot it was in here, so hush."

"I wouldn't be surprised if you fell asleep right at this moment-" A barely audible snore immediately cut him off as he finished his sentence. He looks at Sayuri and couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

Though, afterwards, he found himself not looking away. 'Not again, Sasuke!' His expressions were blank, but his eyes said so much. He couldn't deny any longer. As much as he hated to admit it, he wanted her.

"Ehem," a cough echoed through the room.

Sasuke shot up a bit as he snapped his head to the direction of the door. And there, he found Itachi standing by the door with the stupidest smile he ever put on. His older brother even had the guts to ask, "Isn't she a sleeping beauty?"

It was so sudden when Sasuke stood up and looked at Itachi as if he were ready to kill. "Get out."

"Alright, but you get out also. You need to get to sleep," Itachi yawns as he turns to walk out of the room. His body tensed up like something came to him. He stuck his head out and looked at Sasuke. "Don't forget to turn off the lights."

Sasuke soon began to follow Itachi out of the room. He wasn't planning on staying any longer anyway.

As he shut off the lights, he looked back at Sayuri, who seemed to be sleeping peacefully. She looked comfortable. He slyly smiled. 'Baka.'

That one word came to his mind before he left the room that night.
