Chapter 26 - Take Aim

He wasn't fooling anybody, not even himself.

Keane's POV

Silence.

It was the silence that scared me the most.

It made everything louder.

We we're landing in less than 5 minutes and would probably be waiting another 10 minutes until the plane was cleared before Parker and Jen came. If Parker and Jen came. Though being ridiculously early in the morning maybe meant that...why am I even bothering?

"How are you holding up?" Tayte asked,

"Just peachy" I said, he glared at me,

"Not long now, you've got nothing to worry about. There's going to be no one there, everyone will be asleep in their beds. We're all going to make it off alive"

"Pull the trigger

Ain't nobody gonna do it for you

Pull the trigger

Don't hesitate, just shoot"

"Dad" Tammara said happily, hugging him,

"Hey sweetie"

"Hi Mum" Tayte said, she pulled him into a hug,

"Thank God you're all okay, I've been so worried," he pulled away,

"Stop smothering me," he teased, she smiled, hugs were then given to Jen by Noah and Arii and a polite hello from Angelo. Introductions were then made by Tammara for her Dad,

"You really do look like your parents" He said, shaking our hands, "And you really are your parent's children. Fighters"

"Your good friends, we hear" Noah said,

"Yes we are, very close. I've worked with them for many years"

"Well I hope you can sort this shit out, so they can come out from hiding and we can stop running" I said,

"Keane I promise you that this will all be sorted out soon. You can trust me and I know these past months trust has been a hard thing for you. But you trusted my daughter and you can trust me"

"I hope so" I said, "Because I've enough enemies to last me a lifetime" Everyone laughed, though it was true.

We headed off the plane, I was the last one, trailing behind, I stood at the top of the steps, yes steps! The moon was out, shining brightly and there was a chill in the air,

"At least it's not..." I didn't finish my sentence as a pain hit me, a burning sensation, shrieks filled my ears,

"KEANE," then I tumbled, crashing down the stairs, colliding with the floor,

"KEANE,"

Darkness took over the pain and then silence. Silence. Peaceful silence.

I knew I was dead!

"Never thought you'd shoot me down, down, down

I raise my body from the ground, ground, ground

But I'm not worried here at all, no, no

I get right back up when I fall, you know"

"Keane...buddy wake up," my eyes snapped open and I grabbed out, Tayte clutched my hand, "Hey. Just a dream. This is me and you're okay, no matter what you're dreaming you are alive and I am here with you," I took some deep shaking breaths, "Okay?"

"Okay," I answered, he let go.

"Dad" Tammara then said happily, hugging him,

Take aim.

"Keane any time you're ready" Noah called, I looked down and slowly made my descent,

"Are you okay? You look spooked" Arii asked, I smiled,

"I'm okay"

"Dream didn't come true then?" Tayte said,

"Thankfully no"
