Chapter 4 -- My New Pack

"I'm 27."

"So your dreams started when you were 17?" Stephen asked.

"Yea, boy was that as surprise. I was so surprised."

Stephen looked over at me and smiled, "I bet."

The chopper landed on a nearby heli pad, and the area was surrounded by men and women warriors, all dressed in cammo combat gear. I was a little surprised, our pack fighters were prepared, but this looked more like Sparta- the ancient Greek warrior state. Stephen helped me out, and we crouched and held hands and walked toward a group of five large men.

Stephen walked up and nodded to the largest of them and said confidently, "Tyler, report." Obviously not big on words around his warriors, all prior evidence to the contrary.

"Nothing to report, sir," Tyler replied looking at me studiously. "Everything is as you left it. We've planned several scenarios for the Goma operation we need to discuss, but everything's on schedule."

Stephen turned to me and gestured to Tyler, "Danika, this is Tyler my brother. He's my main Beta and responsible for the running of the pack here. Tyler, this is Danika my Mate."

Tyler was smiling and looking me over and said, "Welcome Danika, Stephen's been looking for you for a very long time." He walked up and gave me a hug, and Stephen actually started growling at his brother. Tyler took a careful step back and nodded his head toward his brother and said, "I expected that, and welcome to our family and the Pine Ridge Pack. Stephen seems a little protective."

I smiled back at Tyler and replied, "I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone."

Stephen quickly stepped over and took my hand and started walking to the pack house. He nodded to the other men that were standing by Tyler, and to the other warriors that he encountered. Every single one of them besides Tyler bowed their heads respectfully, and then looked at me, assessing me. My wolf was strong, I was strong, and I held my head up and walked besides Stephen. I had a great deal to learn.

Some of the other pack members were walking around the house with a more standardized uniform of khaki green and tan, most of them had guns strapped to their sides or in shoulder holsters. I'd seen plenty of guns, but in my pack only a few wore them so openly. It appeared that people were preparing for something. Stephen took my hand when we reached the kitchen and everyone stopped to look at us expectantly.

"May I have your attention everyone!" Stephen spoke to the entire house, and his voice carried to the rafters. "I have an announcement to make, I found my mate and her name is Danika." He turned to me and lifted my hand to his lips. Blushing, I could only look on and watch him slowly kiss my hand while he looked at me with his steamy eyes promising sex. And dammit my underwear was wet again. When he was done, he kept holding my hand and turned back to the pack.

"Meet your new Luna."

I stood up straighter and looked around the room, holding my head high and trying to smile a little. Most men and women were smiling and happy for their Alpha, shouting out greetings and congratulations. But there were a few men and women who were not so thrilled to see me for whatever reasons. I could guess at the women's reasons but didn't understand why any man would be unhappy about it. I guess I'll find out in time. Then there were several people that said 'welcome Luna', and 'hello Luna', then they all waited. I just smiled at them trying not to squirm.

Stephen looked around the room and continued, "We will have the ceremony after this Op, I won't be joining you on it but keep me informed as usual." He then started walking toward Tyler who now had picked up an earpiece with a microphone attached, and computer tablet. I had to follow as Stephen kept holding my hand firmly, but I was a little confused by the word 'Ops'. People were walking in and out quickly, small groups of two or three were discussing tactics and contingencies, and everyone seemed in a hurry.
