that little girl.

once there was a little girl
who had but a care in her head,
all she really wanted was sweets
and stories when she went to bed.

she didn't want the world,
she already had it all
with love and innocence in her veins,
a big heart in her body so small.

she made loads of friends
and learnt lots of things,
she was such an pretty angel
that she practically had wings.

but soon she grew older
and life started to change,
the world wasn't as beautiful,
it was dark and big and strange.

she was forced to make decisions,
answer questions she didn't know,
she was told not to be a baby
because now it was time to grow.

she said goodbye to her parents
and the house that she had loved,
moved to somewhere new,
out the door she was shoved.

now she's all alone
and anxiety sets in,
she wants to go home for a while,
she's not ready for this to begin.

in her mind she still sees her,
that girl so sweet and free,
but in the mirror she's disappeared,
just a distant memory.
