frozen in time.

walking hand and hand
strolling down the street
there's nothing I could think of
that could ever be this sweet.

small hands wrapped up,
in much bigger ones indeed
and all that I can think
is this is all that I need.

but everything soon changes,
far far too quick
and the night air becomes
suddenly very thick.

my hand feels empty
and so very cold,
where have you gone?
I need them to hold.

the street fills with screams
and people rush over,
a man gets out
of his brand new Range Rover.

the traffic has stopped,
time seems too as well,
I hadn't even realised
how hard you had fell.

on the road, unmoving
like a child's discarded toy
the world seems to suck
out the happiness and joy.

I'm frozen, I'm stuck
in that moment in time,
just staring at what has happened
that unspeakable crime.

my voice is silent,
my breathing is shaky,
my hand still feels cold
and my heart really achy.

then the night fills with blue
of an ambulance's light
as a life slips away,
in the dead of the night.
