Deserted Island

I swam in your waters.

Now I can't get the smell of you

To leave my body.

People avoid me like the plague.

I guess I was oblivious to

How poisoning you were.

I kept looking ahead of me

At the lighthouse on the horizon.

I imagined you were up there,

Seeking for my face

Vanishing in the sea of tears I shed

For I was terrified I'd melt into them.

Kicking through the waves,

I dug deep within myself to bring out

Every ounce of strength I had left

And finally get back to you. Only to find out

There wasn't enough room for me

On that huge deserted island you call your life.
