Chapter Ten: For Protection

Derek~

"Derek where are you going?" Veronica ran after me.

"I need to find her." I opened the door to the mansion to leave.

I had to find her.... I know she is still alive somewhere out here.

"Derek please take me with you." Her hazel eyes were sad.

"Not that I want you but I don't want you to get hurt. She's a vampire and we don't know what she is capable of."

As much as I wanted her to join me I couldn't just take her. She shouldn't be with me.

"Derek I want to." She grabbed my hand.

"Veronica....I..." I stared into her eyes as she stared into mine.

"I have nothing else better to do." She whispered.

"Veronica!" Joseph quickly jogged to her side. He grabbed her arm and pulled her slightly away from me.

"Mistress what will the master think if you leave with this stranger?!" Joseph glared.

"I don't care about my father. He is too busy working at the prison camp. Please Joseph let me go." She begged.

"Veronica its better if you stay. I don't want you to get hurt."

"But..." She bowed her head and sighed.

"Is it because of what happened earlier?" She whispered to me.

"What happened?!" Joseph quickly got in front of her protectively.

"No nothing I must go now. Thank you Ms. Snowood." I nodded and started to head out.

"Derek!" She called my name. I froze and fisted my hands.

I didn't want to get her hurt. Now that I know what I am, the least I wanted was for her to be with me.

What can I give to a human?

She ran up to me and got in front of me.

"Derek let me join you. I'll try not to get in the way just please....I want to come."

"Why?"

She grabbed my hands and stared into my eyes.

"Never thought I would meet a werewolf." She smiled.

I intertwined our fingers and stared into her eyes.

Why did she wanted to so badly come with me?

"Take me away..."

"She freaking stands out! How can't y'all find her?!" I yelled through the phone.

"Sir this is the city. Its too hard without having the cops near our tracks. Do you want to take the risk?!" Russell yelled from the other side.

"Listen to me you bastard! You get me the girl for I don't pay you for nothing!" I banged my fist on a wall.

"But..."

"Nothing Russell! Obey or I'll give the order..." I growled.

He remained quiet and hung up the call.
