Chap. 25: Stuck in the Middle (With You)

Start from the beginning

—Geez, he didn't tell me that someone else would be coming in his place.

—He probably forgot.

—That's for sure. He's often absentminded, last time he forgot his...nevermind. Another beer?

—Please.

Grace poured the beer into the glass.

—I'm going to the bathroom.

—Don't cause problems like last time—Masky said grabbing him by his arm and then drank his beer.

—That was you.

—Whatever, don't screw it up.

—Whatever...

Toby rolled his eyes and turned around.

—Rogers.

—What? —he looked at him over his shoulder.

—...If something happens just come to me.

He left without saying a word.

—What happend to his face? Is he a troublemaker?

Masky drank what was left in his glass.

—Nope, he's just... restless and curious—answered with a small smile.

—Good, we don't like troublemakers.

He got the threat.

A while later Dave, the mechanic, showed up at the bar. He told them they'd have to spend the night in town and the day after the car would be fixed.

Masky didn't like that idea but they have no choice.

Grace told them she was friends with the owner of the motel and that she would speak to her to let them spend the night for free. The boys thanked her and followed her to the motel.

—Meredith, you won't guess who i'm with... Brian's friends!

—Brian Thomas? No way—she said smiling.

Toby couldn't understand why these women were so happy mentioning Hoodie.

Meredith agreed to do them the favor of letting them stay and gave them a room key.

—Just one key?

—Don't complain, Rogers.

As they headed to the room, Toby just wished there were two beds.

Upon opening the door, he felt relieved and threw himself onto one of them.

—I'm sleeping the rest of the day—he stretched.

—There are bottles of water—Masky was checking the mini-fridge in the room.

—I wonder why Hoodie has such a good reputation between these ladies.

—Don't ask...

—Whatever.

Toby turned and tried to sleep.

Masky left the room, he lit a cigarette and took a phone out of his pocket.

He was calling Hoodie.

—Timothy, you finally made it to town?

—Don't call me that, and yes...

—Woah, it took you long.

—That's because you sent us to a shitty town in the middle of nowhere.

—Can you blame a man for not being okay with the idea of you two fucking all over the cabin? Where i also live—he was kidding but he meant it.

—Speaking of fucking, how do you think Dave would react if i told him you're fucking his wife?

Hoodie was silent and Masky burst out laughing.

—I can't believe you're into old ladies.

—She wasn't that old then.

—Did you fuck Meredith as well?

—Meredith? What the fuck, are you staying at the motel?

—Yeah...

—What happened to the car?

—Don't know, Dave will have it ready tomorrow.

—Shit... so Meredith let you stay for free?

—Who would've thought that your cock would benefit us...

—Shut up.

—Anyways, why did you send us to this cowboy movies town?

—You've said it, my cock has benefits. Low prices, no questions asked. You got everything?

—Not yet, tomorrow we'll pick everything up, along with the car.

—Nice. Don't cause any problems... and i mean it Masky.

—I got it.

Toby got out of the room, Masky hung up and put the phone back in his pocket, throwing his cigarette.

—You two have phones?

—Weren't you sleeping?

—You two have phones and guns but i don't...

—Hush! Don't say that out loud.

He covered his mouth as soon as possible, Toby did nothing but stare at him—with an angry look—in the eyes.

Masky felt a slight nervousness and walked away.

—Let's take a walk through the town.

Toby followed him in silence.
