"You don't think I'll make it?"

Asher asked. Veila shrugged.

"I never said you couldn't."

Said. The only crime she didn't commit. Thoughts, dreams, and implications existed in the space between never and said. In the realm of possibility, the only thing she could see is how the human girl could fail.

"You didn't have to," she decided, resolute as the larger figure shrugged her shoulders. She looked up to the giantess, literally and figuratively, but she had to believe beyond what she'd heard.

"I-" The giantess faltered, eyes locked on a being smaller than her pinky finger. "It's a hard world out there." She rumbled honestly, said pinky finger hesitating on her pink bob of hair. "Even for us."

Us. Asher's heart lurched for the idea of them together, and deflated when it clicked that Veila had been talking about other giants. Of course, her thoughts pouted as she watched the larger woman with determined eyes, of...course.

The magnification of her face allowed Asher to see every detail on Veila's face. The crease that deepened with each passing second, brows so furrowed the human wouldn't be surprised if they started digging, the obvious straight line of disapproval that was her lip shape.

But the tinier being was surprised to find something else as the seconds went unclaimed. Care. For her, she realized, as the finger that pat her head trembled slightly more with each subsequent touch.

She hummed in agreement, grateful for the giantess's attuned hearing. "But," Asher added, "if you go with me-"

A stop. Sudden as the flicker of disproval on Veila's face, the touching ceased. Asher didn't keep her eyes off of Veila. Stubborn, rational Veila. Her Veila.

"No," she said with the finality she usually did. Asher knew that was her cue, buttons were about to be pushed and she'd respect that before they were. With a sigh, she took the giantess' pinky that remained frozen, bringing it down to her level and gently laying her nose on the finger's pad.

"I get it," She muttered into the finger, embracing it tighter. "You have a duty here, one that I'm not able to get you away from. I'll never forget you, Veila."

She touched it closer to her face, letting it sit before sliding it away from her embrace. If Veila had heard her confession, the giantess did a good job of hiding it - eyes looking anywhere else but at her 5-foot-7 figure. 5-foot-7 to 75 feet - a joke of reversal that they'd shared when they first met. A chuckle left her as she got ready to leave, but before she could, the voice she'd know she would miss pierced through the air:

"Ash?"

She stopped, her lips on the tip of a response. Yeah?

"Please make it...for both of us."
