—Buy—i continued on my way.

—You got any money?

—Of course.

—Where you got it from?

—Stealing.

—Makes sense.

—Oh, here they are!

I found the beer.

Rogers made a weird face.

—What? You don't like it?

—...No.

How can he not like beer? This guy is from another planet, i have no doubt.

I rolled my eyes.

—Go get yourself some chocolate—i gave him a little push and he left, not without giving me an angry look first.

Kids.

We went to the cash register, the woman in charge gave us a strange look.

—10 dollars.

—Here.

I gave her the money and while i was grabbing the groceries she gave me a brochure.

I looked at her curious.

—It's a "conversion camp", you should go. All of you are welcome, i mean your people—she said trying to sound nice.

—"Your people"? —Rogers asked.

—We're not gay! —i said and left before she answered.

Rogers quickly followed me.

—Fucking old woman. Shit, i'm in a mood.

—Who cares, let's get the car.

Well he's got a point. Let's get it and leave.

 —That one.

I approached the car, took a license plate out of my backpack, and gave it to Rogers to change, along with a crowbar. I managed to open the door and started wiggling the wires to start the car.

Done.

We got in and left.

I was driving while drinking my beer, i forced Rogers to drink too. We were having a silent ride again, except for the music from the radio. Rogers pressed the button over and over looking for good music.

I snorted and turned it off.

He said nothing.

—Why are you so quiet?! —i screamed unintentionally, this endless silence was stressing me out.

—You need me to talk?

—Yeah!

Seconds later i realized how stupid it sounded.

"Need"? I don't, at all. I don't need anything from him.

—I mean...

—Didn't you say you don't need me? —he looked at me in a certain way, is he acting indignant?

—Oh, so it's that.

I couldn't help laughing.

—So if you don't need me, why talking?

—You said it too, that you didn't need me... —i answered without taking my eyes off the road.

—It was true.

—I don't need you, but you? You need me like the air.

—What makes you think that?

—I saved your ass.
