IT WAS MEANT TO BE

Gunjan reached for his hand—quiet, trembling—and placed it gently on her stomach.

Her voice was barely a whisper, the kind that carried galaxies.

"I found out this morning… we're pregnant."

For a second, Raj didn’t breathe.

His fingers froze, palm still pressed against her. His eyes darted between her eyes and her stomach—like his brain was trying to catch up with what his heart already knew.

Then the storm came.

Laughter broke through his lips, watery and wild, as tears streamed down his face. He lifted her up instinctively, holding her close like he was afraid she’d disappear.

He spun her around, her hair flying, both of them weightless in that moment—as if the universe finally aligned.

Downstairs, the house buzzed into life. Dhruv, Nayan, Mayur—and the rest of the Verma and Sinha families—gathered around them in a blur of smiles, hugs, and happy disbelief.

Mrs. Sinha and Mrs. Verma clung to each other like sisters across lifetimes.
Mr. Verma, his voice thick, said,
"My grandson or granddaughter will have a love story of their own to write… and they’ll know it began with fire."

In the corner, Nayan rested her head on Dhruv’s shoulder, eyes glistening.

"Love always finds its way, ha?" she whispered, the words threading into his pulse.

Across the room, Gunjan’s eyes met Raj’s.

He was already looking at her.

Smiling like a man who’d fought too many wars for a peace like this.

He winked.

And in that simple, silent gesture—he told her:

This was meant to be. And it always will be.
