The morning air was calm, but two hearts thudded louder than time.
Scene: Gunjan’s Room
Gunjan sat on the bed, twisting the edge of her dupatta between her fingers. The kurta box he never returned was now tucked under her books — no need to hide it anymore. But today wasn’t about romance.
It was about them… becoming us, in front of the people who made them who they are.
Her phone buzzed.
Raj: “Ready?”
Gunjan: “No. But I will be when you hold my hand.”
Just then, Nayan barged in with a smile that screamed backup.
“Uff! Don’t look like you’re going to war. It’s just your parents. You know they already know something.”
Gunjan gave a shaky smile. “Still… it feels like… I’m about to open my diary in front of them.”
Scene: Raj’s Room
Raj was pacing like he was about to confess a crime.
“Mayur bhaiya, what if dad says something serious? Or maa starts crying? Should I write a speech?”
Mayur, cool as ever, sipped his tea. “Just don’t faint. And if you do, do it dramatically. Papa likes drama.”
Dhruv joined in, throwing a cushion at Raj. “You love her, bro. They’ll see it in your eyes.”
Raj nodded nervously. “I’m just scared of disappointing them.”
Mayur placed a hand on his shoulder. “Then make them proud.”

Scene: Verma & Sinha Living Room
(Evening - families sitting together for a casual tea. But our couple knows it’s the moment)*
Mr. Verma was reading the paper, Mr. Sinha discussing politics, the two mothers sharing kitchen gossip — everything normal… except Raj’s hands were sweating and Gunjan’s voice was stuck in her chest.
Mayur cleared his throat loudly. “Umm... aunty, uncle… actually Raj has something to say.”
Dhruv leaned to Mr. Sinha. “Please don’t shout, uncle. He’s sensitive.”
Gunjan elbowed Nayan who quickly tapped her phone, saying, “Wait! Daksha said she wants to be part of this.”
She clicked FaceTime and there was Daksha’s bright face on screen, all excited.
“Hi everyoneeee! What’s happening? Where’s Raj bhaiya and Gunjan di?”
Mrs. Sinha smiled, “We were just wondering the same.”
Raj finally stood up, took a deep breath, and then extended his hand to Gunjan. She slowly stood beside him. Their fingers locked — the whole room noticed.
Raj’s voice trembled at first, but then steadied like his love.
“Maa… Papa… Uncle… Aunty… We wanted to say something together. Something we didn’t want to hide anymore.”
Gunjan spoke next, eyes directly meeting her father’s,
“We’re… together. We didn’t plan it. We didn’t even see it coming. But now, we can’t imagine not being together.”
The room fell into a silence that felt like holding breath.
Then a sudden clap.
It was Daksha on the screen, dramatically clapping. “Finallyyyyyy! I knew it! I’m just a child, but even I saw it!” Everyone burst into a soft laugh.
Mr. Verma looked at Raj, a slow smile forming.
“So… what took you so long, son?”
Raj was stunned. “You… knew?”
Mrs. Verma chuckled, “Beta, we all live in the same compound. Our windows are love’s eyewitness.”
Mrs. Sinha wiped the corners of her eyes. “I always prayed she’d find someone who sees her the way she deserves to be seen. I see that in your eyes, Raj.”
Gunjan ran to her mother and hugged her tightly. Raj’s knees almost gave out in relief.
Mr. Sinha, ever the quiet one, said,
“I just want respect, honesty, and protection for her. Can you promise that, Raj?”
Raj walked to him and bowed gently. “With everything I am, sir.”
And just like that, hearts settled. Blessings flowed not from words but from eyes full of trust.
Nayan whispered, “Mission successful.”
Dhruv gave Raj a dramatic salute.
Mayur lifted Daksha’s call screen up and said, “Your brother has officially grown up, princess.”

Scene End: That Night
Gunjan and Raj on their respective windows, phones in hand.
Gunjan: “It feels lighter now.”
Raj: “It feels like home now.”
They didn’t need to say "I love you" again tonight.
They had said it to the people who mattered — and that made it louder than ever before.
