Lately, I have been having dreams like I am in a white uniform, assisting people and arranging consultations for them. A version of myself I haven't seen or imagined before. I even saw my mom, dad, sister Tiffany, Mikhael, and Sir Renz. In my dream... They are wearing a white gown. At first, I thought it was just my mind playing with me.
Not until... I heard a hospital name, or more like a mental hospital facility.
There in the Verdad Hospital Facility, I had all my memories back. As in everything that I thought was lost due to amnesia.
The first memory that flashed to me was having my job training in that facility.
But the unacceptable part here is... Mikhael was the first patient I assisted during my time there.
The psychiatrist who serves as my mentor told me about his condition. He has obsessive-compulsive disorder, a condition that makes him feel anxious when there is dirt or something that isn't in order. Because of that, out of stress from his review center and the dirt around his apartment, not only his place but also outside his place, he did something that put him in this facility.
After he came home from the review center, he attempted to set on fire the entire building of the apartment he was renting. Good thing the landlord was passing by and he saw him holding a gallon of gas and pouring it around the hallway. The landlord managed to stop him, but experts recommended putting him in the Verdad Hospital Facility...
Another piece of my memory is my mom and dad; to my surprise, in my memory, their surname is Mr. and Mrs. Nepthalia. Like Mikhael, in my memory, they are also one of the patients in the Verdad Hospital Facility.
And the reason? The reason why they're there is the sudden loss of their daughter, Vien Santhy Nepthalia. Vien died in a most tragic event...
She was raped and brutally killed at the age of fifteen years old... That made her parents, Mr. and Mrs., develop a post-traumatic stress disorder.
What made them put into the facility? It is when they kidnapped the suspect and brutally killed him. Of course, based on the statement of their family, they weren't the type who would do that, but since they lost their only daughter, it made them go crazy.
It's not enough for them to be charged in court, so they are sent to the Verdad Hospital Facility for some medications, and they sometimes talk to each other and tell the doctors how they plotted that crime and even say, "Our daughter is pleased that we've done it for her; that animal doesn't deserve to live" and they sometimes laugh. After some examination, Mr. Nepthalia was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder, and Mrs. Nepthalia was diagnosed with psychotic disorder; it was developed because of the post-traumatic stress disorder they experienced after losing their daughter.
All my memories are too much to bear. I thought everything was done, but when I heard the news about my university commemorating Mr. Renz's death...
A new memory came flashing: it was Mr. Renz talking to me during my first day as a psychiatrist...
He's my patient; this time we're having a calm consultation...
Another memory again came flashing: it's him in the Verdad Hospital Facility; he's trembling and distant from everyone. According to what I can recall, he was sent to the facility due to his attempt to commit suicide after being bullied by his students and experiencing a power trip at the university where he teaches college.
Of course, it was a serious attempt; that is why he was sent there.
When my time as the job trainee student was finished... After a few months of working as a psychiatrist, he has managed to land a job in a clinic.
In my memory, it was the time when he visited me. He said he was already discharged. Aside from the psychiatrist and doctors around that facility, it's me who helped him to recover.
I remember in that memory we're both happy because he was there to show gratitude to me, and also the doctor recommended me to him for his monthly therapy.
I remember after five months of therapy, I noticed that he was okay and positive. So I signed a waiver, which is just recommending he finally stop the therapy and have some medicine if it's needed, like if he can't calm himself due to a panic attack.
Everything was all good back then...
That's what I thought, not until I heard the news that Mr. and Mrs. Nepthalia finally committed suicide because, according to my former mentor, they have finally understood the note that they received from someone.
My mentor suddenly thinks of me because I'm the only trainee student back then who loves to give motivational notes to every patient.
They even showed me the notes, which said, "Healing is a process, but never stop living just because someone died. You deserve to be happy and free yourself this time. Not now, but maybe soon. - VSA"
_______________
Another memory again was triggered: it was the news that Mr. Renz committed suicide in his room the day after I signed the waiver where he would stop the therapy because he's already healed.
I thought my memories, like bits and pieces, would stop there...
But it didn't, because the following week, Mikhael...
Mikhael tried to escape the facility and ended up falling into a building while saying, "Ms. Vera, wait for me; I'll go with you. We will see each other outside!"
