Chapter 8: The World of Cybersecurity

‎Time moves so quickly; it feels like yesterday when our class started, and now they're announcing that we might have our face-to-face class by the next school year, which is August 2022. Just like what I've said,

I can only update once a month, and if last month I was breaking down with that part of my life because I still hadn't regained my memories back at that time.

Now, I am already in the acceptance stage, no matter how much I tried not to feel mad with Mikhael, or should I say Jelo, which is what I used to call him...‎

I still can't bring myself to just forgive it so easily, even though we don't have a relationship, we have our mutual understanding, right? Damn! My mind is in a chaotic state.

I'm curious how a normal person like me can get it together.

Especially since our lesson is getting harder and harder and they are slowly introducing capstone and related projects, some of our seniors tell us that we might have our mini capstone during the second year, and all I can say is... May the odds be ever in our favor.‎

During our first semester, I still don't find it hard to solve everything in our computer programming subject and even tasks.

But now, all I can say is before I can solve anything, I need to rest up my mind a bit, take a shower and take a breather.

There were times, while showering when the solution to every bug that I was encountering and encountered would come, but there were times that I failed to solve it because the time wasn't enough for me to shower.

Yes, showering is now my favorite because that's where my ideas overflow.
I don't know why the shower has such a great impact on me.

Maybe because of the great temperature that relaxes my brain and awakens the cells? For us to think of many brilliant ideas?

I don't know if this is accurate because I have read before that the brain can function properly in its relaxed state.

That is why I think I can only solve the logical errors and syntax errors in my code while showering.

Of course, every time I figure it out, I'll get out of the shower and write it down.

My parents were shocked at that behavior at first, but when I already explained it to them, they became used to it. ‎

There comes a time that I usually pull an all-nighter just to fix everything and do everything, aside from solving bugs in my code, I am also advanced in studying, and I find things enjoyable as I go on with some branches of information technology.

But my heart still beats for the cybersecurity field.
I just realized that it was part of information technology that I want to focus on because of the webinar we attended that was organized at the University of the Philippines, Diliman branch.

I enjoy everything about that section, especially the purpose of why there needs to be a lot of agents with cybersecurity.‎

I was amazed with the tools and how these scheming people nowadays fooled people.

I also learned that basic programming skills are also crucial in cybersecurity for scripting, automation, secure software development, and network analysis.

Those are the few things I had in my notes.

They also mention some programming languages that need to be studied, like Python, JavaScript, C++, Java, and SQL.

I realized why it's crucial while I am advanced in studying, especially in website development. ‎

I learned that JavaScript and Python are used in back-end development, meaning they're the ones that process information you input or type in the front-end.

Front-end development is the graphics and everything that we can see.

What we can't see is called back-end development; if we put it all together, it's called website development, which is vulnerable to some malicious stuff and online attacks if not properly developed and wasn't applied to the proper layer of the website securities.

I don't know if some of my classmates are aware of this. ‎But I think I have to share it with them in advance. I almost forgot to inform here in my diary that I have already made a lot of friends, even if it's online.

Why? Because of my contest last time, I even managed to create a study group with my classmates.

All of us in our class managed to make a study group to help everything out. University life isn't easy, especially in Mapua; that's why we decided to work together.

Sometimes things aren't that hard if we have the right people who are helping us out.
