I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I was only wearing my undergarments after taking a long, hot bath.

Damaged arms. Damaged legs. Damaged stomach.

Damaged.

To any regular person, they'd see brown eyes with flecks of honey golden flakes. But to me, I see nothing. I see a lifeless soul filled with the kind of darkness you'd never find anywhere else.

Eyes filled with a hidden pain that no one else could ever comprehend.

Eyes with a plea for help hidden beneath those dark brown orbs.

I tore myself away from the mirror. I pulled on a pair of leggings and long sleeve sweater. I took one last look at my bedroom.

The dark grey walls were covered in pictures and posters from when things were much simpler. My bed sat in the corner away from the windows. The white sheets were crumbled on top of my bed. Some of my clothes laid in a heap on top of my computer desk. There wasn't much else to my room, other than the dresser and closet where I kept all my clothes.

I made my way down the stairs slowly while barefoot, trying to not make much noise. It was easier to tiptoe without having to worry about the way I walk with shoes on. The floorboards creaked every goddamn time I took a tiny step. I held my breath, pausing as I waited for some noise – anything that would alert me. After a minute of standing like a statue, I began making my way downstairs until I was out the back door.

I let out a massive sigh, running my fingers through my chestnut brown hair. My toes dug into the cold sand as I walked towards the pier. One of the perks of living in a (run down) beach house was, typically, the proximity of the beach. It was my backyard. My feet soon met the cold boardwalk. I made my way to the edge, my toes nearly dangling.

It was well past the middle of the night, nearly two in the morning. The only sounds I could hear was the occasional bird and the waves crashing against each other. I took a deep breath, inhaling in the salty scent of the water. My eyes were focused on the water.

There was a storm coming; either later today or in the afternoon. The water brushed against the boardwalk, occasionally spraying onto me. It was chilly for mid June. I didn't mind the cold. A low rumble erupted from the sky, breaking the calm aura.

I stared out in front of me, watching water droplets fall into the water until it reached me. I stayed where I was, ignoring the fact that I was practically drenched. It wouldn't matter soon; it didn't matter.

I closed my eyes, reminiscing every happy memory I've ever had. My parents taking me out for ice cream. My parents kissing me goodnight every single night. My parents taking me to the park. The smile on my parents' face every time I did something to make them proud.

But it all came crashing down that one specific night.

None of us noticed the car coming full speed ahead that stormy night until it was too late.

Within seconds, I lost the two people I cared for the most.

But it's alright. I'll see them soon – very soon.

I reopened my eyes, blinking occasionally as the water hit my eyes. A ghost of a smile appeared on my lips.

I'll see you really soon Daddy, Mommy.
