" 'I could feel a presence in the theatre, a tremor in the air, two familiar scents growing closer while the audience booed at the three of us as we sat shackled to our seats' "

Molloy slams his laptop shut as I sit back down on a chair in the dining room.

The sound startles me as my eyes zip towards him

"That is exactly how Louis de pointe du lac described the feeling of sitting on a stage while you and Lestat walked closer... tell me, how did you feel?" He asks

The question takes me off guard.

The session before I could sense that Molloy was feeling sorry for me- how he didn't jab in questions and held himself back from asking about insensitive topics- but since our break he had apparently decided he had been too lenient.

I simply take a moment before I smile

"I had brought myself into the mind frame of Lestat- the people that we were going to be sat infront of had tried to kill my husband- why should I have felt bad about what was coming I thought? Instead I put on a mask of confidence and walked onto the stage like it was my home again"

...

I remember when Claudia stopped protesting- stopped shouting that she and Louis did not know about any laws they had broken through turning Madeleine and herself- Louis never tried to shout his innocence... I think now that it was because he could sense what was about to happen.

Instead Santiago cut through the crowd and spoke

"Ladies and Gentleman of the jury I think we have heard quite enough from our accused!" Santiago shouted "It's time we welcome our witnesses including the victim himself... Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you- Lestat and Victoria de Lioncourt!"

I remember the way the crowd flung themselves from their seats at our names, the way they instantly stood like we were royalty-

"You said you and Lestat were to be married on the stage"

My mouth hangs open, interrupted while in mid flow

After a second I shut it as I glare at Molloy who sits back in his chair with his arms crossed

"You said Lestat wanted you to get married on stage" he repeats as he gestures with his pen to his mic "I have it all on record" he says as I raise my eyebrow at his boldness

"I spoke to him and I told him I did not desire that" I say and as I speak Molloy lets out a breath and a humourless chuckle

He barely lets me get the words out before he cuts me off

"You 'spoke to him'?- Vic he may have been your fiancé but he was also an all-powerful vampire with a coven of vampires at his fingertips- there is no way you could have changed his mind- you said it yourself 'Lestat had decided that if our family was to burn then it would be on the stage' -you said there was nothing you could do! You quite literally said it yourself that you couldn't control what he did. He 'was Lestat, is Lestat and will always be Lestat' you said that before-"

"- yes but I was the only thing he had left!" I shout to get my words over his

Molloy continues shouting his point nevertheless
