So sorry about the late upload- I am going to be honest. I wrote this chapter out twice with completely different content. I won't spoil this chapter for you but my first draft of it did not have this ending and it was a bit of a shock to me as I wrote it, but I think it works. Hope you like this chapter x

"How many people did you invite exactly?" I asked as I sat on the couch, the next day, waiting for our guests to arrive.

Lestat entered the room and walked towards me "I invited everyone we know" he smiled

"Anyone would think that you are more thrilled about this idea then I am" I said as I stood and walked towards him

He dropped his hands as I took his tie from his hold.

I started to tie it.

"You will like Louis" he spoke as he looked down at me

I hummed as I continued my job

"I know you two only exchanged pleasantries when we first met him" he said "but you two will find you have more in common then you think"

I nodded as I pulled my hands from his clothing and glanced at my work

"I'm sure we will get along fine" I said as I crossed my arms and wiped a hand over my lips

Lestat looked at me as he raised an eyebrow

"What's wrong?" He asked

I shook my head

"I'm not sure" I admitted, honestly "something just feels off- this whole idea just feels too.... Normal" I said

Lestats face softened as he walked closer to me

"You wanted normal- we need normal" he reassured

"But we aren't" I said " I don't know what's wrong with me, but I just have a feeling that something is going to change- something drastic" I sighed "our lives have never been as calm as they have been recently and I'm worried"

Lestat chuckled as he pulled me into a hug "my love, this is what normal life is like for people. It's not always moving countries or hiding secrets- most people do regular things, like host dinner parties" he said

"I know that. It just feels weird" I laughed in ridiculousness

"Anyway I wanted to ask you about our label" I said as I changed the subject

Lestat raised an eyebrow at me

"Label?" He asked "the last time you asked me what we were was back in the 1800s after Nicky's death" he recalled

"I mean what have you been telling people? Are we to say we are married? Are we to say we are even a couple?" I said

Lestat thought for a moment before he reached a conclusion

"We are engaged" he said

I raised my eyebrow at his choice of status as he took my hands in his

"And why engaged?" I asked

"Over the past few weeks, during my nights at the brothel-" he started

I rolled my eyes as I looked away but he carefully took my chin in his hand and positioned my face to look at his

"I'm only saying this to explain myself" he said

We had both recently decided that it would be best not to mention anyone else we were/are taking as lovers. I thought it best to keep our sexual encounters off the table so that neither of us could use them as fuel in an argument again.
