Of course it was Gazef. Even if he was blind to the distinct knuckles that Gazef had from his usual close hand-to-hand combat fighting style, instinctively, he knew that it was this person—something he has now noticed but could not logically explain.
"Tired?" A concerned question suddenly came, interrupting his wayward thoughts.
Yu Yan shook his head, but his eyes peeked over the bottle, sliding sideways to observe Gazef's biceps through the black full-body skin-tight training suit.
...Ahem.
Immediately, Yu Yan retreated his gaze, cheeks flushing. Subconsciously, perhaps Yu Yan tried not to take notice but at times where they were left alone, his attention and his line of sight had already been stolen by this adorable man before he realized. Next time, he'd surely try not to finish training his spiritual power early! He'll just hide inside his pod!
He tilted the bottle up to hide his expressions.
"Are you hungry?" Gazef asked.
"Hm? No, why?"
"You were biting the bottle rim... I thought you were hungry. I could get you a bun," Gazef mumbled, cheeks red but obviously not due to training strain.
"..." I want to bite your bicep muscles, not bread! Is that allowed?!
Yu Yan mentally screamed in fluent professional menace. He inhaled, trying to suppress this odd—completely inappropriate—urge.
...But he ultimately failed.
With a deadly serious expression and furrowed brows, he grabbed to pinched Gazef's cheeks with his fingers, "How dare you be this cute?!"
He was one impulse away from biting Gazef's face but the man doesn't need to know! (,,>﹏<,,)
"I'm sowwy—" Gazef, although not sure of what he did, tried to talk while squishing but didn't stop him.
Soon, the sound of an opening pod could be heard alongside their chatter.
"Ugh," groaned Chen WangZhi from his pod, looking like he'd just survived war. His upper body flopped out halfway, as if in the thirtieth runthrough of regretting all his life choices. Yu Yan's homemade breakfast looked like it was about to see the light of day—for the second time.
It was a comeback no one wanted to see.
"There's no soil to puke on here, only the cold floors," Yu Yan muttered sympathetically, then gave Chen a look of betrayal. "I warned you not to eat all the leftover dumplings."
Chen WangZhi, "Eugh, stop reminding me ugh ouwaa—"
Even their new roommate, Sylven, who had an average psyche resistance and the lowest physical stats among them, was doing better than Chen WangZhi who had been diligently training with them for three weeks already.
Yu Yan considered that mildly impressive.
Their current task during Practicals involved regular intervals in the virtual pods to train spiritual power control. The pods were programmed to mimic fixed real-life scenarios with fixed objectives such as the basic skill of mecha control and operation.
Although it was called 'basic', operating something like a mecha would be far from being 'basic' as even the simplest model would have a lot of controls, buttons, and systematic instructions. Military people with low spiritual power would have a difficult time even simply remembering where everything was; much less operating it under pressure with fast but stable reflexes.
As such, this training regime for their Practicals Class consisted of hopping into the virtual pod in intervals to practice spiritual power control. This required each student's body and spiritual data had already been taken during psyche fortification training during Combat and Navigation Class in order to track progress.
