Although there was no way to inform their team when Yu Yan and Gazef would descend to battle, Fernis knew they'd follow through based on their strong execution prowess.

In the meantime, Fernis had to do his part. He pressed the scanner's panel back into place. He had just finished swapping back Yu Yan's terminal and the post's scanner component perfectly back in place, as if it was never tampered with.

Fernis was a perfectionist. Although be thought he wasn't above everybody else, he had still internally prided himself at doing better than his peers. He credited this to his tendency to plan carefully and execute it strictly to his ideals, which was largely the reason why he agreed to Yu Yan's plans—albeit not as detailed as Yu Yan's, some coincided with his own. Even though he was proud of his abilities, he hated being labeled 'royalty'.

It was as if all his abilities were not hard-earned by him but granted to him as a blessing by his bloodline.

Despite this, the upbringing and inherent pride of a royal person cannot be hidden in his subconscious actions and idealogy. So although he was not arrogant about his talents, his pride will not allow him to do a poor job unless otherwise.

Let his results speak for themselves, he would repeatedly think to himself.

Upon the cave's entrance, the mottled sun rays in between branches glared at his eyes but he didn't even squint.

"Noisy", Chen WangZhi complained as we walked out from behind Fernis, their terminals blaring at the forced notification—

[ Announcement to all cadet participants:
The pre-test has now officially ended. Reconvene at the West shore. Follow instructions upon immediate receipt of this notice. ]

The announcement was followed by the set of coordinates for the location of the rendezvous point.

At an observatory deck, hidden from the eyes of the students, Instructor Bryce watched the faces of the first years as they slowly filled the multipurpose canteen. Everyone's steps were heavy, weighed down by exhaustion but lifted by the quiet satisfaction of having finally completed the hellish pre-test.

"It's finally over", Yu Yan stretched his limbs as he sat down on the table where his teammate sat.

Chen WangZhi was busy eating to even respond. Although Gazef's survival skills saved them a lot of trouble while they were in the wild, there wouldn't be much of a variation in the ingredients they could find in the island. Everyday was either game or wild berries and fruits.

He grew tired of eating them by the second day!

Fernis was also eating, albeit more graceful and quiet than WangZhi's emotional reunion with 'normal food'—as he had cried exaggeratedly upon first sight of the buffet table.

Upon finding they were actually short of one person, Yu Yan glanced around.

Clink. Clink—

The ceramic bowls and plates made soft clinking noises as the tray gently hit the table caught his attention instead. You look down in front of him only to see a set of side dishes and a bowl of rice being placed in front of him.

Yu Yan studied the hand with his eyes up to the arm, and then the face of Gazef who acted as if serving Yu Yan was naturally his first course of action; even prioritizing him over his own self.

"...."

Gazef noticed him staring.

"What's wrong? Is there something you'd like to eat instead?" Gazef asked as he sat down beside Yu Yan smoothly.
