Chen WangZhi roamed the combat department's grocery store isles, glancing at the list sent by Yu Yan to the group chat, double checking the unfamiliar brands. He took it upon himself to buy ingredients. That way, his share would be the biggest contribution and he could eat his fill as he pleased without the guilt!
"Is it this one?" This 1.8m man scrunched up his nose, checking the screen on his terminal before glancing down at the foreign can of chicken soup in his hands. Or was this broth? Why is the label so vague?
"Do you need help?"
Frustrated by the novel experience of grocery shopping that his servants used to do for him instead, he unwittingly allowed his proud, young master persona to emerge.
"Who needs help, does Laozi look like he needs your help?!"
Chen WangZhi lifted his help to see a soft-spoken delicate-looking young man. Because he ended up saying it a bit harshly, the young man to showed a frightened and wronged look.
Chen WangZhi swallowed, unsure of how to interact with delicate smaller person. He could endure his father's long-winded scolding or bicker loudly with his crazy dormmates, but all the people he had encountered in his life, even his family's servants, were all the finest people. This included all the cadets and students that surrounded him on a daily basis in the combat department.
Hence, he had never engaged with any person that could be labeled as 'fragile'.
"Laozi... needs your kind help", Chen WangZhi said in a progressively lowering and polite tone, afraid the other person would suddenly cry. Just thinking about it made him panic.
Fortunately, the young man didn't shed tears. The moment Chen WangZhi admitted his need for help, the other person smiled softly.
He readily accompanied Chen WangZhi across the isles to get what he needs from the list that Yu Yan made.
Chen WangZhi thought that since he'd spend a lot on the ingredients, he'd get to a free pass to eat whatever his dormmates cook! Thus, he took the opportunity to stock up their shared kitchen and refrigerator with consumables, frozen food, vegetables, meats, canned goods, spices, and more. As a result, he ended up with three full carts in no time.
"That's everything. You can line up here and place your groceries on the platform for checkout. You can also give the robot your address or dorm room number if you want them delivered instead."
Chen WangZhi followed his instructions and sent the robot to deliver all items to room 4444 in the combat course dorm building.
The young man lined after Chen WangZhi with his own items to buy. When all the young man's items were rung up, his expression scrunched up a little when he saw the price displayed. The robot was waiting for his payment but the young man made an awkward look and tapped the robot's display panel to cancel the purchase.
"What's wrong? You don't have enough money?" Although Chen WangZhi had always been bold and straightforward, he still maintained a low voice when talking to the young man.
The other person pursed his lips in embarrassment, "It's nothing. I just didn't expect that the prices on your department's grocery store was a little pricier than the others on campus."
"Oh", Chen WangZhi looked at the amount and didn't think twice and scanned his card before the young man could even press the cancel button. He paid for all the items.
"That...I'll pay you back."
"No need", Chen WangZhi talked as he loaded the young man's bought items to the delivery robots and paid for his delivery fee as well. Only the address needed to be filled out.
