"We were on the day after you and Lestat made up from your argument" He clarifies

"If that's what you call it, then sure" I said "Lestat and i had chosen to move past our previous 'misunderstanding', however that very same 'misunderstanding' was slowly waking up from our couch, disorientated and angry" I start

...

"Don't say anything" I said the second I saw Louis eyes start to open.

He rubbed them before he pulled himself up, sitting on the couch as if he hadn't been sleeping on it moments before.

"What happened?" He asked

I glanced behind him as Lestat stood, leaning against the doorway. He had his arms crossed and gave me a very 'innocent' shrug.

I looked at him with a roll of my eyes

"He used one of his 'magic tricks' on me, didn't he?" Louis asked as he groggily cleared his throat

I avoided the question as I watched Lestat push himself off the wall. He took his place, standing behind me as I sat in an armchair, facing Louis on the couch, and he placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Louis I know you don't want to hear it... but we need to talk about our living arrangements" I said as I crossed my arms.

Louis's eyes snapped to meet mine as he lowered his hands, previously having been rubbing his eyes.

He looked from me to Lestat before he scoffed

"I'm not living here" he said, finally

I heard Lestat sigh, clearly knowing it was coming from the man who hated him, even if they were friends at one point in time.

"Louis you have no choice" I said, firmly

His eyes dropped to look at mine as he saw my firm face. I had been kind to him yesterday, comforting him after Lestat had made him feel small, but today I needed to tell him what needed to be said.

"Louis you have nowhere else to go" I told him "Your family has already started suspecting you and probably grown to not trust you.... You have to move in with us" I said "our home- MY home- is the best place for you" I finished

I prepared myself for Lestat to start arguing about how it's ours not mine but he kept his mouth shut.

"I'm not living with the person who turned me without choice" he said as he crossed his arms, like a toddler

"Louis under our roof you can be whoever you want to be. You can be a vampire, you can be up at night instead of during the day, you can drain whoever you like as long as you clean them up... you can be lavender" I say

He looks at me at that.

"You are accepted here, Louis.... This will be your home" I say

His previously hostile attitude started to melt away. He sighed as he wiped a hand down his face, contemplating

"Where will I sleep?" He asked as he looked at me

I smiled as I answered "We will have separate coffins-" I started

"Now, my love, let's not get too ahead of ourselves-" Lestat piped up from behind me

"I mean Louis will have a separate coffin to us" I clarified with a roll of my eyes "but we will all slumber in the same room, it's the safest place- behind the wall" I said

Louis nodded, after a minute, and he stood

I immediately joined him as Lestat's hand fell from my shoulder

Lestat rounded the chair as he stood next to me, both of us infront of Louis.

"What will we tell others?" Louis asked as he crossed his arms, not liking what had to be done

"It's up to you" I said, honestly "Lestat and I have already announced our engagement and everyone in town already knows you and your family... whatever you think will be best" I said

"How about we just tell people we are friends?" He asked

I raised my eyebrow, not even having considered the most obvious option

"And you think that will work?" Lestat asked, unconvinced

"It will have to." Louis said as he spoke at him, harshly "We will say I wanted to move out of my parents place and you guys said you had a spare room... I will work on getting an alibi house purchased soon" he said with a sigh

I nodded

"We have the money... we have more then we could need" I admitted to Louis

He looked between Lestat and I with wide eyes before he shook his head, I imagined he was reminding himself that we had been around for quite a while.

He nodded

"Friends it is" he said to me and I nodded with a smile

I stepped forward, intending to handshake him, before he pulled me into an unexpected hug

"At least that way I can keep an eye on Lestat" he said through our minds

I pulled away from him, not bothering to answer him or give away anything to alert Lestat.

I wondered when he had figured out that vampires who create another can no longer hear their thoughts.

Next it was Lestats turn to show his agreement to the mutual understanding.

Louis, reluctantly put out his hand, but Lestat ignored it as he pulled Louis into a hug.

I rolled my eyes at the way he was trying to intimidate Louis.

"Oh we will have such great days living together... 'friend' " he said as he pulled away and slung his arm around my shoulders

"Now" he said with a sigh "Who's up for watching a play?" He asked as if the whole situation hadn't happened and Louis wasn't still giving him the evils "oh come on it will be fun!" He said as he extended his arms, seeing Louis's expression

"Our first family outing" he smiled as he kissed my lips roughly before exiting the room muttering a tune that was familiar to me. It was from the recent play he had seen.... I guessed we were all going to the theatre to watch it with him.

I looked to see Louis scowling at his retreating figure

At least in public they couldn't kill each other I thought.
