"Je me demandais quand je me retrouverais face à face avec toi, mon enfant, même si je dois avouer que tu n'étais pas la personne que je m'attendais à voir descendre ces escaliers ce soir." The man said as the people around him all moved out of my way, unsure what to make of a human entering their lair.

(I wondered when i would come face to face with you, my child, though i must admit you were not the person i was expecting to walk down these stairs tonight.)

I took a moment to look around the space, the torches hanging from the old structure giving me just enough light to see the people infront of me.

"Puisque tu crois me connaître si bien, tu dois bien savoir pourquoi je suis là. Épargne-moi cet air et réponds à ma question muette, Armand." I spoke

(Since you think you know me so well, you must know why I'm here. Spare me that air and answer my unspoken question, Armand.)

The words exited me in an unamused tone. I had had enough of vampires for one night, but I wasn't about to let this opportunity go- I was so close to answering my problems I could almost taste it.

"You know my name?" Armand spoke for the first time in English.

I tilted my head as I looked at the coven leader and watched him sit up straighter in his chair.

"Your name has been on my lips for years... I just did not know where to find the face that matched it until I saw you out of my window tonight" I spoke as I took a step closer to the altar.

From on top of the stone altar a man started to stir from his unconsciousness yet only for a moment before his head lulled once more to the side.

My eyes and everyone else's, having darted to the dark haired boy now looked back across the room to Armand, waiting for him to respond to my words.

"I too have known of you for a time" He suddenly spoke as he turned his face to me again "You watch from your window yet I watch you from the street... Three years ago when I first heard that someone was asking about vampires in the streets of Paris- I was the first to get notified. I have been keeping an eye on you ever since" he spoke

At that my anger began to grow and my patience began to dwindle

"Three years I have been dying waiting to meet one of your kind and now you tell me you have been watching me? Quit playing your games Armand and answer my unspoken question" I spoke

Armand, much to my surprise, slowly stood from his chair and continued staring at me.

"No. No i will not take you instead of Nicholas- Lestat does not deserve my generosity after he has refused to join our coven for long enough!" He spoke lowly with a booming voice

"I urge you to reconsider Armand, things will not look good for you if you do not hand over Nicholas to me!" I said in a louder voice as I took a step closer to the altar separating the two of us.

"And what will you do?" Armand asked as he threw up his hands "you are a human- a weak one at that- you cannot do anything to persuade me to switch your places"

The vampires around us started to lowly laugh at that, knowing Armand was right and getting restless at the smell of my blood slowly drying on my dress.

"Very well, don't do as I ask, but you will regret it later" I said as I placed my hands on top of the altar

"And why is that?" Armand asked just as the sound of the crypt door slamming open echoed through the place.

"Because I may be a 'weak human' but I'm not a stupid one and I used the resource you unknowingly gave to me" I said just as Lestat walked down the stone stairs holding the huge cross from above the doorway over his shoulder just like I had instructed.
