Chapter47: That sounds like a challenge

|||Ashley

His eyes landed on me and I just stared back before, very awkwardly, waving at him. What is wrong with me right now? One little almost-kiss and I was acting like some girl with a crush – which I certainly did not have.

He quickly finishes pouring his drink and then starts over to me and I just leaned against the counter, feeling out of place.

"I wasn't expecting to see you here," he comments, taking a swig of his drink.

"You say that like it's a bad thing that I'm here," I smirked.

He just chuckles, taking another drink as his eyes trailed down my body, seeming to only become more thirsty. Something must be wrong with me because instead of glaring at him and threatening to punch him, my mind was currently thinking up some pretty dirty things. All of which had to do with him.

Quickly shifting over to the girls who were getting drinks and seemed completely oblivious to Mathew's presence, I went to get myself a drink. Honestly, right now I wished I could actually get drunk – damn Kahira genes keep me from doing that though.

Pouring myself some tequila, I took a swig, gulping down quite a bit before filling it up again. "You're certainly not wasting any time," Maya comments and I just smirked, knowing that tonight they would witness my extremely high tolerance to alcohol. Her eyes then flash past me, "I'm gonna assume that Kile dragged you here."

"Yup. Then the fucker ditched me as usual," Mathew responds, taking another sip of his drink and his eyes switched back to scanning me.

"Stop looking at me like that," I snapped at him, now actually glaring. I hated the way my body was currently reacting to his stare. It felt like I was on fire just from those damn blue eyes.

He chuckles, "Like what?"

I rolled my eyes at him, now looking over to Ruby who was filling a cup and looking at us with a face that said everything.

"We going to find Kota, or what?" I asked, with a smile. Harper goes red while Ruby snaps out of her thoughts, grabbing the girl by her arm and tugging her off to find Kota. I laughed, Maya and I following along after them but that stormy scent didn't fade. Glancing back, Mathew was following along, "Why are you following me?"

"I have nothing better to do," he reasons with a smirk and I rolled my eyes before choosing to ignore his presence and that fucking gaze he didn't seem willing to take off me.

We end up eventually out in the backyard and Ruby quickly jumps up and down, "Look! I see him! Come on! Come on! Come on!" She chants, pulling Harper down the stairs of the deck with her.

We wandered down into the yard, stalking through the grass and over to a bunch of lawn chairs that were currently occupied by Kile, Robin, Conner and, our target, Kota.

"Welcome to the party!" Kile greets us, raising his hands above his head with a big grin that said he'd already drank quite a bit. "Ash, I didn't know you were coming." His gaze flashed off me and towards Mathew, eyes comically widening. I glanced towards Mathew to see him switch from a glare to a sheepish grin as he met my gaze.

Conner's head snapped towards me before I could question Mathew and it was clear he was taking it slow because he didn't look all too drunk. "What are you doing here?"

"Having some fun. Obviously."

"Ashley!" Robin draws my attention from the chair next to him. His eyes were wide as he stared at me with a drunken grin. Also, his shirt was gone and black pen over his chest read King of the Party. "Do you want to have a drink off with me? I could totally out drink you."
