Chapter29: Don't be a dick if you don't want to get your ass kicked

|||Ashley

Leaves crunched beneath my paws as I raced through the woods, weaving through trees as a growl sung from my lips. I couldn't get him out of my head and what he said to me. I live in some fictionally perfect world? What the fuck does that say about him?

A snarl ripped from my lungs as I allowed magic to flow over me, propelling me forward even quicker through the brush. My beast came forth, flooding the yellow of my eyes with blood red.

I wasn't sure how long I ran for in that state, all of it feeling like a blur, but I finally stopped, panting as I scanned over the landscape. It was cloudy out, casting a darker appearance over the woods, but I honestly liked it better — it seemed more spooky and desolate.

My thoughts cut off as I heard a low howl ring through the air. Raising my nose, I could smell the border for the Danimain pack nearby but the howl didn't sound good. Especially when it was followed by snarls and yelps.

My body tensed, a growl ringing from my lungs, but one step was all I took.

I'd promised to stay out of this whole pack drama and, even more, I would be passing into pack territory. I turned away, ready to walk away when I heard the whimper of not just a wolf but a pup.

Jason is going to kill me.

I took off through the grass, not even hesitating as the barrier came, leaping past it. My paws dug into the dirt as I launched up a hill before it all came into view — four wolves against a wolf and pup that appeared to be losing.

A snarl rang from my jaws as I launched over some bushes, coming into the fight without hesitation. I didn't even halt for a second, lunging towards the wolf closest to me which, once I caught their scent, found they were a female Alpha.

Instantly the light gray wolf was on the ground and I snapped my jaws at her as she growled and deflected the blows the best she could. I felt as she managed to spin her body a bit, back legs coming up and attempting to push me off.

My wolf pushed more and more, as I felt adrenaline pump through me as my attacks got stronger. My jaws locked around one of her front paws and I dug my teeth in, warranting a whimper as blood began to pool in my mouth. The she-wolf was attempting to pull away or push me off but I held my ground, hearing a snap as I put more pressure on the bite. She let out a loud whine, now becoming more eager to get me off.

Pain radiated from the back of my neck as one of the others came over, their teeth digging in as they attempted to pull me off the she-wolf. Letting a snarl rip from my jaws, I spun on the wolf, forcing my body towards them as we became locked in battle. They hopped back but their scent hit me, a male Alpha. The dark brown wolf snarled and growled, tail raised as he hopped around, clearly trying to use evasive tactics.

Instead of trying to follow his movements, I prepared for him to attack. Sure enough, he quickly did, causing us both to rise on our hind legs, jaws snapping in the air. Occasionally I got a nip at his fur and every once in a while he got one at mine. A moment later, the both of us were back on all fours and I snapped a hold of the back of his neck, forcing the wolf to slam into the ground.

Releasing him after I gained a whimper, I felt blood dripping from my mouth as I turned to look at the other wolves. The Danimain adult was currently in combat with one of them while the other two wolves were staring at me, almost in awe. Then the final Alpha snarled, starting towards me and I didn't hesitate to snarl and fly at him.

Pushing up on my front legs, I pulled my paws around the wolf's neck, attempting to snap a hold of his ruff. The gray she-wolf Alpha then jumped in as well, locking onto my back leg. With a loud snarl, I snapped a hold of the male Alpha's neck, ripping a chunk of flesh out which caused him to pull back and dart away from me.
